A disastrous 2019 season seems very difficult for Texas Rangers pitcher Corey Kluber to overcome. Can he find his former glory or is his return already doomed to fail?

00:00Hey, what's up, it's Corey Parson, the fantasy executive here for SI.com.
00:04Hopefully Major League Baseball players and owners can get their act together so fantasy
00:08baseball owners can have their hobby back in these times.
00:11Joining me to talk some Major League Baseball, specifically the Texas Rangers, is Rangers
00:15insider Chris Halleck and SI fantasy and gambling analyst Sean Chiles.
00:19Chris, let me ask you about Corey Kluber, what's his outlook coming into his first season
00:23in Texas?
00:24Well, obviously he's coming off of an injury riddled 2019 season.
00:29He only made seven starts, and in those seven starts his numbers were horribly inflated.
00:33However, the stuff was still there.
00:36He was able to take the opportunity all that time off to look and fix some delivery issues
00:42and now he's healthy.
00:44The Rangers liked what they saw whenever spring training was happening and before camps were
00:47suspended due to the coronavirus.
00:49So when things get back underway, the Rangers are excited about what he brings to the table.
00:53And like I said, the stuff is still there and we all know how good of a pitcher he was.
00:58He's won two Cy Young Awards.
01:00Rangers are excited.
01:01He's healthy.
01:02This could be a this could be a steal of a trade.
01:04Sean Chiles, what do you think, draft or pass?
01:08I'm definitely drafted.
01:10His ADP is 98.
01:11He's really discounted for those seven bad starts.
01:13He struggled at the end of the year before with a 3.670 R8 on the stretch and kind of
01:18people have kind of faded him the previous season.
01:21But you know, he doesn't walk many guys and he doesn't give up a lot of home runs.
01:26His fastball has declined a little bit, has a plus slider, plus change up in over the
01:30previous five seas, full season, he was 96.55, 3.090 R8.
01:35You know, excellent whip.
01:37He's a guy that's really going to help you.
01:39And he's won probably four of the last five seasons.
01:41He's won over 50 percent of the start.
01:42So Texas will score runs, a little questions with their bullpen, but I think he's really
01:46good fit and he's really getting drafted as a back end SB3 in 15 team leagues.
01:52And I think he's a real value and I think Texas will be happy with him in the change
01:55of ballpark.
01:56He's pretty good as well.
01:57All right.
01:58Thanks a lot, Sean.
01:59Thanks a lot, Chris.
