00:14 Yeah, draft experts were not too kind to the Texas Rangers with their draft class this year.
00:20 First round pick Justin Foskew, a little bit of a reach, but still they weren't getting too, you know,
00:27 too criticized for that pick. But on day two, with rounds, you know, two through five,
00:33 the Rangers went off the board. They went off the radar. Everybody zigged and they zagged.
00:38 It was just, and it all began with the second round pick, Evan Carter, a high school player out of Tennessee.
00:44 The Rangers really, really like him. We got to talk to him. He seems like a really good kid.
00:49 Seems very, very hungry, you know, admitted pretty much right away that he was going to sign with the Rangers.
00:56 However, he wasn't in MLB Pipeline's top 200. He wasn't in Baseball America's top 500.
01:03 The Rangers haven't done enough in recent history when it comes to the draft where criticism isn't unwarranted.

01:18 So the fact that they went exclusively on prep players in rounds two through five,
01:23 that made a lot of people question the Rangers and what they did, especially considering last year
01:28 that they were very top heavy with college players at the, you know, in the first 10 rounds of the 2019 draft.
01:34 So it did cause a lot of people to, at minimum, question and a lot of fans and Twitter GMs
01:40 definitely criticized the Rangers for their picks. Obviously, just as scouting director Kip Fagg said,
01:47 this is something that just time will tell. There's just a lot of questions about this year's draft
01:53 and how much the Rangers possibly or potentially reached on some of these players
01:58 and if they would have been available later on.
