Transcript
00:00 the season.
00:00 We'll be right back.
00:01 Daytime baseball here on MLB
00:11 Network.
00:12 It's the home opener of this new
00:14 season between the Los Angeles
00:16 Angels of Anaheim and the
00:17 Rangers.
00:18 Hi again everybody Matt
00:28 Hager baseball coverage on MLB
00:31 Network.
00:31 I'm joined by Dan please Zack
00:33 and Dan as we get things going
00:34 this season it's pitching that
00:36 has to be key if this team's
00:38 going to have success.
00:39 You know I always think pitching
00:41 and defense are the keys to
00:42 success in the long run.
00:44 So as the season gets started
00:46 it's going to be really
00:47 important for this pitching
00:48 staff to set a good tone if they
00:50 can get off on a good foot.
00:51 It will do a lot for the
00:53 confidence of the entire ball
00:54 club set for what should be a
00:56 good one.
00:57 The first pitch are next.
01:00 And the second pitch is a one to
01:02 one.
01:02 the ball for the opener in
01:18 front of these hometown fans.
01:20 Dan please Zack what do you got.
01:22 Hey you always like to begin the
01:24 season on a good note in his
01:26 first start of the year.
01:27 He did just that.
01:28 Picking up the win.
01:29 There's nothing he'd like to do
01:31 more than to get number two in
01:33 this one here.
01:33 So that brings up the big bad of
01:35 Joey Gallo.
01:36 He leaves that one right over
01:37 the plate as this is in high and
01:39 deep out to right center field.
01:41 And it's a one to one.
01:43 And the home plate is going to
01:44 be a one to one.
01:45 And the home plate is going to
01:47 be a one to one.
01:47 And the home plate is going to
01:49 be a one to one.
01:49 And the home plate is going to
01:51 be a one to one.
01:51 And the home plate is going to
01:52 be a one to one.
01:53 And the home plate is going to
01:54 be a one to one.
01:54 And the home plate is going to
01:55 be a one to one.
01:55 And the home plate is going to
01:56 be a one to one.
01:56 And the home plate is going to
01:57 be a one to one.
01:57 And the home plate is going to
01:58 be a one to one.
02:14 And the home run number three
02:16 here in the early going and the
02:18 Rangers move ahead.
02:19 It's now two to one.
02:20 This is exactly what you want
02:29 your offense to do to get your
02:31 fans involved.
02:32 Bottom of the first inning.
02:34 Let's get it started early with
02:36 a homer.
02:36 And a homer.
02:37 And digging in next to be
02:52 Anthony Rendon.
02:53 As he will look at a first pitch
02:55 fastball for ball one.
02:57 One count.
03:05 Here it is.
03:06 You never want to fall behind as
03:07 a pitcher but doing it to a guy
03:09 like this is even worse.
03:10 He's got to bear down and
03:12 execute for the rest of this at
03:14 bat starting right now.
03:15 And this is in the air to right.
03:17 And this should do it.
03:20 And that'll be the one that ends
03:22 it.
03:22 And the Rangers have taken the
03:24 opener here at home as this ball
03:26 game is over.
03:27 Always nice to get the first
03:29 game of the series.
03:30 But even more so when it's in
03:31 front of the home crowd.
03:32 Seems to energize everybody the
03:35 way it is.
03:35 And that's what we're going to
03:36 do in the second half of the
03:37 series.
03:38 Five to two.
03:39 The final today.
03:40 Texas jumped out to an early
03:43 lead in the first and never
03:44 looked back.
03:44 Mike Miner earns the win his
03:47 second.
03:47 Dylan Bundy was only able to
03:50 work four innings as he takes
03:51 the loss.
03:52 Jose Leclerc wraps it up for the
03:54 save his second.
03:55 So that's a wrap for us in this
03:58 one.
03:58 Mark DeRosa Dan please act
04:00 Heidi Watney Matt Vaskirshen.
