Transcript
00:00 Today was supposed to be the Texas Rangers 2020 season opener.
00:05 They have a brand new stadium just waiting to be played in.
00:08 However, the coronavirus epidemic has brought a new reality to the sports world.
00:13 Chris, what is the latest when it comes to the Rangers and
00:17 the MLB amid the coronavirus epidemic?
00:19 >> Well, the baseball season was supposed to start this week.
00:22 Monday night was supposed to be the first exhibition game at Global High Field,
00:27 the first baseball game ever played at the stadium.
00:30 And Thursday, the season was supposed to start in Seattle and here we are.
00:35 No baseball is gonna be played this week.
00:37 A bit of a harsh reminder that we won't be getting any baseball.
00:41 It's unfortunate, but
00:42 there are a lot of things going on right now that are bigger than baseball.
00:47 The Rangers have emphasized that and have continued to emphasize that
00:52 as this whole situation continues to develop, things change every day.
00:57 Dallas County residents are now preparing to shelter in home for the time being.
01:02 And there's just a lot of things going on that are bigger than baseball right now.
01:06 And the Rangers are very focused on keeping their players and
01:11 their staff healthy and preparing them for
01:13 whatever is going to be happening going forward.
01:18 We don't know when the baseball season is gonna start yet.
01:21 For everybody, I think I can speak for everybody and
01:24 say that we want the baseball season to start as soon as possible.
01:27 But for now, we're still in this period of limbo and
01:30 it's unfortunate we won't get baseball this week, but it'll happen eventually.
01:35 We'll get some baseball soon, hopefully sooner rather than later, but
01:39 it'll be here.
