Corey Kluber Addresses the Media at Peek At The Park
Transcript
00:00 >> With the Rangers, are you starting to get accustomed to the idea of the move and
00:04 everything?
00:05 >> Yeah, I think so.
00:06 I mean, I think I've had time to process being part of a new organization.
00:11 I think I'm excited about it.
00:12 I'm looking forward to the new season starting.
00:16 It's been a long time for me personally since I've been able to get out on the
00:20 field, so I think that along with just a little excitement of spring training and
00:23 stuff, I'm looking forward to it.
00:24 >> How much of it is kind of almost a fresh start for you?
00:27 I know you didn't want the time off you had last year, but
00:28 the time off you've had now, now you're playing close to home.
00:31 And what does that mean to be playing close to home?
00:33 >> I think it'll be fun.
00:34 I think it'll be a lot of fun.
00:35 I mean, I came out to the ballpark in Arlington numerous times when I was a kid.
00:40 So I'll be playing right next door now, so it's pretty cool from a personal sense.
00:44 But yeah, I mean, the time off last year was unfortunate, but
00:47 I've just, I've kind of made myself look at it as it is what it is.
00:52 I'm gonna look at it as hopefully it's a good thing moving forward.
00:55 It gave me some time to kind of regroup physically,
00:59 address some issues that I had with my delivery and things.
01:02 I've gotten a little bit out of whack, and I think I'm in a good spot now.
01:04 So like I said, I'm looking at it as it was unfortunate.
01:08 It's not what I wanted to happen, but hopefully it's a blessing in disguise.
01:10 >> How do you feel pleased with the way it's going?
01:12 >> You have a unique perspective having come out here as a fan and
01:15 sitting set, sat in the seats there, pitched on the mound there as an opponent.
01:21 And now you're gonna pitch in this, in a dome, or retractable roof.
01:26 How much of a difference is that gonna make for pitchers?
01:30 >> I don't know.
01:30 I mean, I don't think anybody honestly knows until we get in there and play.
01:35 Ultimately, whether you're playing in a hitter's ballpark, pitcher's ballpark,
01:39 it's the same for both teams.
01:40 You still gotta go out there, you gotta try to get outs.
01:42 The good part of it is that we know that the game's gonna start when the schedule
01:47 is started every night, you don't have to worry about delays or anything like that.
01:49 So that part of it's nice, but like I said, the ballpark doesn't,
01:54 it doesn't factor into at least the way personally I approach it.
01:57 I feel like it's the same for both teams and
01:59 whether it's pretty or it's not, the idea is to win the ballgame.
02:03 >> The Heat, you never felt like the Heat was a thing to dream?
02:08 >> I mean, growing up I just think you don't know any better.
02:12 But coming back I think that it's definitely different than a lot of places.
02:16 But I was only here for three or four days at a time,
02:20 it wasn't like I was here for an entire summer to feel those kinds of things.
