00:00 >> It's pretty special to you to know that this was somewhere you were gonna come in.
00:03 >> Yeah, I mean, I know everybody says it's like a dream come true, but
00:07 it's like, it's awesome.
00:08 Just with my family connections here and just being a lifelong Husky fan.
00:14 It's a tremendous honor.
00:16 And once it happened, it's almost like it still hasn't really hit me,
00:20 because things move so fast.
00:22 And but it's hard too.
00:24 It's like, now I gotta tell my team that I love the Utah State.
00:27 I gotta tell those players that we poured so much into the community
00:32 in Logan, Utah, who care deeply about basketball.
00:36 And it was hard because they gave me an opportunity.
00:39 But when sometimes these life moments, like having an opportunity to coach at
00:42 the University of Washington come, you have to jump at it.
00:45 >> Did it ever come up, I mean, you grew up a UF fan and
00:48 your dad's connection here and everything.
00:50 But when you got on your path coaching, assistant, head coach,
00:54 a couple places, did you guys ever talk about, hey,
00:57 maybe one day you could be the coach at the University of Washington?
01:00 >> No, we didn't.
01:02 And my dad's never been like that.
01:04 I was never pressured to play sports.
01:06 I was never pressured to coach.
01:08 He's just always been there for me.
01:09 And I'm sure it's probably been a dream of his, kinda like it was mine.
01:14 But we never really talked about it.
01:16 I know my sister Erin and my little sister Lacey, I know they manifested it.
01:21 They wanted it to happen.
01:23 And so no, it's special for our family.
01:26 But yeah, we never had conversations of, hey, this is where we gotta get to.
01:30 Because it's just like life, so much of it's timing, opportunity, chance.
01:35 And luckily, we've had some successful seasons the last three years to put me in
01:40 a position to be here.
