00:00 Hello, very good day to you. In some ways the weather's not going to feel much like
00:04 spring because temperatures are several degrees below average. But on the other hand, there
00:09 are plenty of April showers around today. That's because we have low pressure just to
00:13 the east of us, bringing a showery theme to many areas. However, as we head into the weekend,
00:19 our attention is drawn to another area of low pressure developing to the west of us.
00:24 This is initially going to push south before then changing direction and heading back northwards.
00:29 Before this, some more rain across parts of the UK on Saturday. Then this deeper area
00:34 of low pressure pushes in and brings some heavy, perhaps persistent rain, particularly
00:38 across eastern, southeastern parts on Sunday. Bit of uncertainty as to exactly where that
00:43 rain will be, but it does look like it will be towards east, southeast, that it is going
00:47 to be wettest. With that though, as well as bringing some rain, we're going to see a change
00:51 in our wind direction, so temperatures are going to start to climb again.
00:54 Back to the here and now, and as we go through Thursday, like I said, quite a few showers
00:58 around and these are going to be most frequent across central, southern parts of England
01:03 and Wales. Here, relatively cloudy and some of those showers could be a little bit heavy
01:07 at times. Further north, across northern England, Northern Ireland and Scotland, a greater chance
01:12 of seeing some decent bright or sunny spells in between the showers, and the showers here
01:16 will be less frequent. So a greater chance of staying dry, although I can't guarantee
01:21 it. Temperatures are a bit below average for the time of year. Worth bearing in mind, the
01:26 sun does have some strength behind it, so in any sunshine it will feel warmer than these
01:30 temperatures suggest, but we're only looking at highs staying in single figures across
01:35 some northern parts and around 13, 14, possibly 15 Celsius further south. As we go through
01:41 the end of the day, there will be some more showers around, perhaps some more persistent
01:45 rain affecting parts of the southeast through the evening. So a damp end to the day here,
01:49 but that rain does clear away overnight. Otherwise, through the night, a few more showers pushing
01:54 in, particularly across parts of the north and the east, and some of them could turn
01:57 a little bit wintry over the higher ground. Elsewhere, and where we see some clear skies,
02:03 temperatures are going to take quite a drop. It could get as low as minus two to minus
02:06 four in some prone spots tonight. So a touch of frost again, and also a few pockets of
02:11 mist and fog, particularly across the northern half of the UK. Further south, it's going
02:15 to be a little bit cloudier and a little bit milder too. As we go through Friday itself
02:20 then, for many a similarish day to today, really more showers feeding in from the north
02:25 and east, still some wintry elements to them over the highest ground of Scotland. And those
02:30 showers are going to become a bit more frequent as we go into the afternoon, a bit more widespread.
02:35 In the southwest, we need to watch out for some heavier, perhaps even torrential downpours
02:39 could cause some issues here as we go through the afternoon and into the evening. Temperatures
02:44 will be similar to today for many of us. So generally staying in high single figures across
02:49 the north and a few degrees higher than this further south. So still several degrees below
02:53 average for the time of year. As we go into the weekend, and like I said, there is going
02:58 to be a bit of rain around on Saturday, but that doesn't look especially heavy. I think
03:02 the heaviest rain will be across parts of the east and southeast as we go through Sunday,
03:07 although there is a little bit of uncertainty. It does actually look like at the moment Sunday
03:10 towards the west will be largely dry. A bit of a breeze for some of us, nothing particularly
03:15 strong. But one thing to note is that temperatures should actually pick up a little bit as they're
03:20 going to get closer to average for the time of year. If you want more information about
03:24 the weather we can expect this weekend, then do check out our weekend weather forecast,
03:28 which will be available on YouTube later on. Bye bye.
