00:00 Hello there, good afternoon. It's going to be a warm but very windy weekend for
00:04 some of us as Storm Kathleen approaches through tonight. Ahead of that though
00:09 this air of low pressure will slowly start to fill, that should ease much of
00:12 the rainfall that we've seen through this morning. But tonight Storm Kathleen
00:15 develops to the west of the UK so it's going to bring unseasonably windy
00:19 weather but also very mild if not warm weather for the weekend. The heat's
00:23 building across parts of Europe, they could see highs of 25-26 degrees here
00:28 across Western Europe on Saturday and we're going to see the influence of that
00:31 heat on Saturday particularly across eastern areas of England. But before then
00:35 through the rest of today we've still got cold air in situ across the far
00:39 north of Scotland and the rain has fallen as snow across the high ground,
00:43 across the Highlands and the Grampians. Temperatures will rise here through the
00:46 rest of the day so snow will tend to melt over the next few hours. And further
00:50 south will be a mix of showers but plenty of sunshine and it's going to be
00:54 fairly dry particularly considering the wet weather we've had recently. The best
00:58 of the sunshine will be across eastern areas, that's where the highest
01:01 temperatures will be as we're sheltered from that south westerly wind as well so
01:04 highs of 18 possibly 19 degrees here. A little bit cooler exposed to that rain
01:09 as well as those strong fairly blustery winds across parts of Northern Ireland
01:14 and Western Scotland. The next batch of rain will arrive across the southwest
01:17 through this evening that pushes northwards through tonight and will turn
01:20 quite heavy across Northern Ireland, much of Scotland as well overnight.
01:24 Elsewhere though further south should turn much drier across many areas of
01:27 England and Wales by tomorrow morning. We've got a southerly wind direction, the
01:31 winds are really starting to pick up by tomorrow morning but it's a very warm
01:35 direction as I've shown you with that air mass so it's going to be a very
01:38 mild start to the day. Temperatures already at 14, 13 degrees across the
01:42 south but closer to 10 degrees in the north as well. So the winds pick up
01:46 throughout tonight but they'll be the strongest through Saturday daytime. These
01:50 are the gusts fields you can see we'll see gusts of 60 to 70 miles per hour
01:54 quite widely across Irish Sea coast through the daytime on Saturday and then
01:57 those strong winds will remain across northwestern areas of Scotland. As a
02:02 result there is a wind warning in force for parts of Northern Ireland, many
02:05 western areas of England, Wales and Scotland as well through Saturday so
02:09 there could be some travel disruption particularly if you are traveling around
02:13 on Easter holidays, if you're going out on any ferries or going out and about on
02:17 any of the high ground that's where the winds are going to be the strongest and
02:20 that's where we've got the wind warning in force through much of the day on
02:23 Saturday. The rain will ease throughout the day it's still going to stay very
02:27 unsettled for parts of Northern Ireland and Western Scotland in particular but
02:31 further south and east you are the more likely you are to stay quite dry. It's
02:35 going to be a breezy day wherever you are but across eastern areas in any
02:39 sheltered sunshine that's where it's going to start to feel very warm indeed.
02:42 So widely will be in the high teens across many areas of England and across
02:47 the southeast parts of Lincolnshire, parts of Norwich as well, Norfolk, Norwich
02:51 for example could see highs of 22 degrees on Saturday that would make it
02:55 the warmest day of the year so far so it's going to be quite a mixed feel from
02:59 east to west through Saturday. The wind warning is still in force through Saturday
03:03 night so you still need to check before you travel on Saturday evening as well.
03:07 We'll start to see then some batches of rain arrive from the west as well to
03:11 bring a more showery day on Sunday but it's going to stay fairly mild for the
03:15 time of year. Make sure you keep up to date through the weekend with all of
03:18 your YouTube forecasts and you can do that by subscribing online. See you later.
