00:00 I saw a lot of comebacks this year.
00:02 We saw you guys have a lot of fun out there.
00:04 Just what do you think overall of the chemistry,
00:06 connectedness, and the spirit that you guys have on the season?
00:09 I think, you know,
00:11 I think it's hard to shake.
00:15 You know, everywhere you go,
00:17 you kind of start to be your best player.
00:19 It depends on how close your team is going to be.
00:22 I think he does such a good job
00:24 of making everyone feel involved on and off the court.
00:27 And from there, you got to keep the guys,
00:30 you got to keep the guys,
00:32 you got to close-knit the guys.
00:34 That makes playing together more fun.
00:36 It makes the road trips more fun.
00:38 You have a more enjoyable long season.
00:41 Shea, obviously, you know,
00:42 led the league in drives per game
00:44 for two straight seasons, but, you know, as a group,
00:48 you guys looked like you would paint every single night
00:50 offensively and have that style of play.
00:52 What do you think of the way you guys are able to kind of,
00:54 you know, build that and cultivate that throughout the season?
00:57 I think we did a good job of creating pretty good shots
01:03 for the most part throughout games.
01:06 I think, you know, we're going to keep improving.
01:07 We're going to make some more shots over time.
01:11 I think our offense is going to improve for sure.
01:14 We need to keep improving.
01:15 Good stuff. We have hard workers.
01:18 We have good staff.
01:19 So, yeah, we have a good recipe for our food.
01:22 Ty, how are you feeling after your surgery
01:23 and this one you expect to sort of ramp things back up?
01:27 I'm feeling really good.
01:29 I think I'll start ramping.
01:30 I'm not betting kind of ramping up,
01:32 but I think I'll be below.
01:34 As you approach this offseason, personally,
01:43 you know there's going to be some sort of roster
01:45 turnover, new draft picks coming in.
01:46 Just like what's your focus going into the season?
01:49 Getting better.
01:52 Getting better. That's my life.
01:55 The roster changes because nothing can be --
01:59 I'm not saying I can't be involved,
02:00 but I'm saying it's not my job to figure that out.
02:05 Sam, the front officer,
02:06 one of the best in the league there.
02:08 That's my job.
02:09 So, it's not up to us.
02:14 You had the third best defensive rating
02:17 out of all the guys that qualified.
02:19 Is that something that you look to build on,
02:21 something that you can't get to the season?
02:23 Something to focus on?
02:26 Yeah, I think that was one of the question marks
02:28 when I was coming out of college,
02:30 kind of at this level.
02:32 I think just --
02:35 Some of the defensive rating stuff,
02:38 the documents are mixed and shot, right?
02:40 But I think in terms of being a leader defensively
02:46 and encouraging team success on defense,
02:49 encouraging the game plan,
02:51 encouraging everyone to execute the game plan,
02:54 that's something I take pride in.
02:57 You know, being a leader on both sides of the ball
02:59 is something I take pride in.
03:01 And then, typically, young teams aren't good defensively,
03:05 but you guys, when you were healthy,
03:07 were one of the top 10, I believe.
03:09 So, what do you attribute that to?
03:14 The staff, because they do a really good job
03:16 of giving us a game plan.
03:18 And then I attribute that a little bit to what
03:21 Harris and I were talking about earlier,
03:23 about how close-knit this group is,
03:25 because it allows us to bargain each other a little bit.
03:28 Like, if someone misses an assignment,
03:30 if somebody is not in the right spot,
03:32 like, we come from a place of love,
03:34 and everybody knows that, and that allows us
03:36 to hold each other accountable.
03:38 I think that's a big reason for our somewhat successful
03:40 defensively.
03:43 Martin talks about, you know, the leader
03:44 is the person doing the right thing.
03:46 How much did that kind of help cultivate
03:47 that environment for yourself,
03:48 about guys kind of being able to hold each other accountable?
03:51 It's not a big deal.
03:53 And we didn't really have a seven-footer,
03:55 and the paint blocking shots for him.
03:57 So, what we did have is five second guard,
04:00 all five positions.
04:02 So, I think, once again, the staff did a great job
04:04 of realizing what we had,
04:07 and players did a great job of buying in.
04:09 And I think when you do that, you play hard.
04:12 And, of course, the whole regular season,
04:14 you're going to yield pretty good results.
04:17 What are your thoughts on Trey and the progress
04:19 that he's made from coming to campus to the game this season?
04:24 Yeah, the progress he's made is unbelievable.
04:27 In terms of finding his ball in basketball games,
04:33 his catching shoe improved tremendously.
04:35 His willingness to shoot the ball right away
04:36 off the catch improved tremendously.
04:40 He started -- at one point, got such a good rhythm.
04:43 He started playing, you know, with confidence.
04:45 That was a fantastic moment.
04:47 Anybody else in the room?
04:52 What's the biggest thing you want to do this offseason?
04:56 Is it really getting that against what you're going
04:58 to work on this summer?
05:00 No, I already have it all planned out.
05:02 The biggest thing for me is going to be
05:04 getting in the best shape of my life
05:06 because that's going to basically be the foundation
05:11 for everything I want to do.
05:13 Skill-wise, obviously, I'm going to be working on,
05:16 you know, trying to improve my shooting, obviously,
05:19 but that's something I've been doing all my life.
05:21 I think I had it all here, you know,
05:23 but getting in the best shape of my life
05:25 and the foundation for everything I want to do,
05:27 defensively, offensively, is, in my position,
05:31 probably the most important thing a guard can do.
05:35 Is there anything you attribute your off year to shooting?
05:38 No.
05:41 That makes more sense.
05:43 Christos Soltis, go ahead, Christos.
05:49 Hey, Ty. How are you doing?
05:50 Well, first of all,
05:52 what was the takeaways for you this season
05:55 and what would you like to improve
05:58 and get better about the next season?
06:04 Takeaways, I think...
06:06 I think when we compete at a certain level,
06:18 we can be a pretty good team.
06:20 I think continue to build on that,
06:23 understand that we're trying to build something
06:25 that lasts for a long time, and we're not skipping steps.
06:30 I think that's the most important thing.
06:32 That's where I'm going to try to go into the summer
06:33 and build on the months of individually and collectively
06:36 trying to build something that can last
06:39 and not skip steps.
06:42 Thanks, Ty.
06:43 Thanks, Ty.
06:44 - Bye.
