00:00After years of negotiations, France and Germany have signed a multi-billion euro deal to build
00:07a next-generation battle tank.
00:09The joint project is called the Main Ground Combat System.
00:14The tank will replace Germany's Leopard 2 and France's Leclerc and feature artificial
00:19intelligence and automated systems.
00:22Both countries will equally share the cost.
00:25The heart of the agreement is that in 2040 we will have the same tank, because there is
00:30no scheme in which both armies are not engaged globally against the same adversaries, or
00:37in any case in the same training conditions in common.
00:40And it is then that, in view of our needs, we find an agreement of distribution for our
00:48industrialists, so that obviously there is a balance, politically it is important, economically
00:53also.
00:54The Main Ground Combat System is the second major joint arms industry project between
00:57the two countries.
00:59It was delayed by a series of political differences.
01:02But I also want to say it clearly, it is also an expression of what the French President
01:06brought to the fore in his recently held speech.
01:10We need a European understanding for the armaments industry, for the development of armaments
01:16stores in Europe.
01:18We must, in view of the developments in the world, certainly not in the short term, that
01:23will not succeed, but in the medium and long term, how should I put it, develop the best
01:28solutions in the armaments sector in Europe, i.e. the best solutions from Europe.
01:36Spain will work with France and Germany on the second project, a next generation fighter
01:42jet or future combat air system.
01:45Germany will take the lead role on the battle tank project, which is expected to be finished
01:50by 2040.
01:54Political suspense has taken hold of Spain.
01:58On Monday, Socialist PM Pedro Sánchez will announce his possible resignation following
02:03a corruption linked to his wife.
02:05She is being accused of influence peddling by a group known for supporting right-wing
02:09causes.
02:10Opinions on whether the PM will resign are divided.
02:15No, he won't resign.
02:17He will be there forever, I tell you.
02:19I think everyone is surprised.
02:21I don't know what can happen yet.
02:25It has been surprising in many ways.
02:27Then, like everything in life, nobody is essential.
02:30And logically, what we always have to look for is the good of the citizens and the good
02:35of the people.
02:38Members of Sánchez's government have expressed support for their leader, who decided to suspend
02:43his public activities on Friday.
02:46The slander, the lies, the bullshit, which in the end is nothing more than political
02:53and media harassment, especially when it is directed against our families,
03:01it only degrades democracy.
03:07The EU's top diplomat, Josep Borrell, also weighed in on the matter.
03:16We have to separate well what are the issues of a political debate, of ideas, of cartoons,
03:22of proposals, and what are issues that bring personal attacks.
03:28I understand very well the feeling of the president of the government.
03:32Spanish Minister Pedro Sánchez sent a letter to the citizens announcing that he would take
03:36a few days for his future.
03:38Only time will tell if he continues as leader of Spain or resigns.
03:46Shame on you!
03:48Berlin police cleared a pro-Palestinian protesters' camp, which has been set up near the Chancellery
03:53over the past several weeks.
03:56The permanent population of the camp was around 20 people, but dozens more came to protest
04:01the police operation.
04:03Local media reported that about 75 people were detained.
04:07In Paris, Sciences Po students blocked the entrance to campus with rubbish bins, wood
04:12and metal objects, plus a bicycle.
04:16Forty to fifty people remained in the building overnight.
04:20Students say they were inspired partially by their US counterparts.
04:25Pro-Palestinian protests have swept across US campuses over the past few days.
04:31Protesters have set up camps at universities demanding that the government stop supporting Israel.
04:37Some universities have cancelled classes and graduation ceremonies amid the protests.
