00:00 [crowd cheering]
00:02 >> Offense.
00:04 >> Alright gentlemen, we've been over the years with you both.
00:05 You're professional and quick to talk yourself a sense.
00:07 Best of luck.
00:09 [crowd talking]
00:13 >> Well here we go.
00:14 Our main event of the evening about to get underway.
00:18 Defending his WBC US Silver Championship is
00:24 the fighting pride of Court, Ireland, King Callum Walsh.
00:29 He takes on the Argentine in Juan Jose Velasco.
00:36 Our referee, Eddie Hernandez.
00:40 Ten rounds of boxing, round one underway.
00:43 Callum Walsh wearing the colors of his native Ireland.
00:51 Black and gold for Juan Jose Velasco.
00:54 Left hand.
01:01 >> Callum taking control of center ring immediately.
01:05 [crowd chanting]
01:15 >> The buzz has been pretty loud for King Callum Walsh,
01:19 for good reason.
01:21 He's been performing time and time again,
01:23 but you look at what he's done here on UFC Fight Pass.
01:27 He's doing it right down here.
01:31 >> Walsh is targeting the body.
01:35 Which tells me he did his homework.
01:37 [crowd talking]
01:49 >> Confident here.
01:51 Left hook to the body.
01:59 I think that's one of the more scary things about
02:02 the young Irishman in Callum Walsh.
02:04 At 23 years old, the way he conducts himself,
02:07 the way he talks about fighting,
02:08 the way he delivers these shots when fighting
02:13 is another thing altogether,
02:14 but the confidence and the mentality of Callum Walsh,
02:19 it's just on a different level.
02:26 >> Switching things up, going from the body
02:27 to the head is Walsh.
02:38 >> And more volume.
02:40 Two minutes down.
02:52 Look at the demeanor of Callum Walsh.
02:54 I mean, he laid on his feet, dropped his hands a little bit.
02:57 >> Yeah, he's relaxed and almost playful.
03:02 But he's not playing around when he lets his hands go.
03:05 Some sharp, hard shots.
03:08 >> You can tell Velasquez having a tough time dealing
03:11 with not just the power, but the speed of the delivery.
03:30 >> Well, ten seconds here in round number one.
03:43 Smile by Callum Walsh as the first round expires.
03:48 >> And that's the thing about Callum as well,
03:50 he's not afraid of a fight.
03:51 He's almost encouraged anyone that can give him a fight
03:54 to give him a fight.
03:55 So to take a couple of shots to give some,
03:58 he's not afraid of that either.
03:59 And that goes back to that confidence.
04:01 No one's been able to rattle this young man
04:03 and he's having fun out there.
04:06 >> He's got a tough Argentinian,
04:10 most of the Argentinians that come here,
04:11 they're all just tough, durable, sturdy chin.
04:15 And they come to fight.
04:17 He's obviously fighting a prospect and he knows it,
04:21 so he's going to let him expand a little bit,
04:23 expand a little energy and see what happens
04:25 in that next couple of rounds.
04:28 >> Doug Fisher walking us through the replay of round one.
04:30 >> And Callum Walsh taking command
04:32 of the center of the ring.
04:34 First minute and a half of the round
04:36 he was targeting the body.
04:41 And also waiting to see what Velasco throws at him
04:44 that he can counter.
04:46 >> Here we go, round two underway.
04:47 TJ DeSantis, Sable Sanchez, Doug Fisher.
04:50 This is our main event.
04:52 King Callum Walsh taking on Juan Jose Velasco.
04:54 He's joining us live on UFC Fight Pass.
05:03 Velasco aggressive here to start the second round.
05:06 [crowd noise]
05:25 >> We talked about the last fight for Callum Walsh.
05:27 He was cut from a headbutt.
05:30 You can't even tell he was cut.
05:33 He's got an aggressive sort of schedule
05:36 that he wants to continue on.
05:38 I was worried that maybe that cut was going to prevent him
05:41 from taking this fight.
05:42 He still wants to get another one in November.
05:44 But he was able to get through the other side of that cut
05:47 with really not even a scar it looks like.
05:53 >> Yeah, nervous disheveled, but did a great job.
05:56 I believe it was a plastic surgery.
05:59 >> He's done proper.
06:02 He's put proper hands on Velasco.
06:06 >> The Argentine marching forward, though.
06:08 Athlete brought here round for two.
06:16 Left hand to the body, right hand upstairs.
06:23 >> Did their hands come together?
06:24 >> Yes.
06:26 [crowd noise]
06:42 >> Bouncing on his feet is the Irishman with left hand.
06:45 Right before that.
06:47 [crowd noise]
07:11 >> Attack to the body again is Walsh.
07:15 Velasco stunned.
07:18 King Callum Walsh.
07:20 [crowd noise]
07:24 >> Velasco's got really good survival instincts,
07:27 covering up well, but his legs are a little bit shaky.
07:30 [crowd noise]
07:33 >> Save Walsh with a capital ice here inside the final ten seconds
07:36 of round number two.
07:37 [crowd noise]
07:43 >> Velasco able to make it to the end of the round.
07:45 Solid stuff turned in again by the King, Callum Walsh.
07:49 [crowd noise]
07:56 >> Oh, look at that.
07:57 Jorge "Game Bread" Masvidal hanging out ringside with his partner, Dean Toole.
08:05 Street Jesus in the house.
08:09 Three piece and a soda?
08:10 No?
08:12 That's all right.
08:13 I'll fill you in on Masvidal later.
08:15 You boxing guys, you don't need to.
08:16 >> I do recognize him, though.
08:18 It's impressive that he's here.
08:19 >> You only need to watch five seconds of one of his fights.
08:22 Fastest knockout in UFC history.
08:24 All right.
08:25 Let's watch some of these highlights here, Doug Fischer.
08:27 >> Yeah, good.
08:28 I like to see Callum Walsh on his toes, getting into his rhythm,
08:32 and letting his hands go in combinations of twos and threes.
08:37 [crowd noise]
08:42 [bell rings]
08:44 >> Third round underway.
08:45 Again, our main event, King Callum Walsh taking on the Argentine Juan Jose Velasco.
08:51 TJ Desanis, Abel Sanchez, Doug Fischer.
08:56 Appreciate you joining us live here on UFC Fight Pass.
08:58 [crowd noise]
09:05 >> Velasco rocked in that last round.
09:09 Thought that maybe he was a bit on some unsteady legs.
09:12 >> Did they clash heads again?
09:13 >> Yeah, I think they did, yeah.
09:15 [crowd noise]
09:32 >> Velasco being hurt in that last round.
09:36 He seemed to be okay and is trying to exchange again here in this third round.
09:41 >> Seems like he's recovered.
09:42 He's throwing some bombs, some heavy shots.
09:46 Looked like he landed a right hand a moment ago.
09:49 [crowd noise]
10:12 >> Halfway point here, round number three.
10:14 [crowd noise]
10:35 >> Right on his feet is Callum Walsh.
10:37 Two minutes down here in the third.
10:43 >> Velasco's looking to time that right cross.
10:47 [whistle]
10:50 >> Ooh!
10:52 Velasco landed a nice shot, but so did Callum Walsh.
10:55 And the Irishman smiling.
10:57 >> They both did.
10:58 Both guys, both fighters' eyes lit up.
11:02 >> Both men here to put on a show and fight in this main event.
11:09 >> Yeah, both wanted to say, "Gotcha!"
11:12 >> 30 seconds left in round number three.
11:15 [crowd noise]
11:35 >> Inside the final 10 seconds.
11:38 [crowd noise]
11:43 >> There we go.
11:44 Three down.
11:46 Again, scheduled for 10.
11:49 It's our main event for the WBC US Silver Super Welterweight Championship.
11:55 We go inside the corner of the defending champion.
12:00 Callum Walsh said he will fight anyone, anytime.
12:04 Doesn't care when the opponent drops out.
12:07 >> We have a tough fighter in front of me here tonight.
12:10 Doug, walk us through some of the action.
12:12 >> Yeah, they are exchanging punches.
12:15 Callum's looking to load up with the left, and Velasco's looking to load up with the right.
12:19 And Velasco landed the right hand two or three times in that round.
12:23 Still Callum's round, but it was the rare competitive round featuring Callum Walsh.
12:30 We're used to him dominating every round.
12:32 >> As we spoke in the Chuckie Guerrero fight, tough opponent, good opponent for him,
12:36 he's got to load things up.
12:40 But I see Callum trying a little too hard to not--
12:43 He's trying to punch too hard in my opinion.
12:49 >> What would you have told him after that round?
12:53 >> He's trying too hard for the knockout.
12:55 He's trying to land a big bomb.
12:57 It's not necessary. He's got good skills.
12:59 >> So maybe the same punch selection, just don't load up as much?
13:02 >> Just make it quick, sharp and quick.
13:09 >> We've seen Velasco eat some good shots from Walsh, but he hasn't gone away yet.
13:18 >> He is as tough as he looks. He just has that German look about him.
13:24 >> Ooh.
13:26 >> Their feet-- >> They're both hits.
13:31 >> He's done that a few times here tonight.
13:34 >> He looked at me and said-- >> He said, "You're not the one."
13:39 >> I'm glad there's no cut on either man.
13:44 >> One minute has elapsed here in round number four.
13:58 >> You like the amount of power put by that?
14:01 >> Just quick and sharp and right back to where he needs to be.
14:06 Do it again, do it again, do it again.
14:09 [crowd shouting]
14:12 >> Lana Davis, left hand by Walsh, lands.
14:37 [crowd shouting]
14:40 >> Now one minute remains here in round number four.
14:45 [crowd shouting]
14:48 >> Left there, okay, right hand to the body.
14:52 [crowd shouting]
14:55 >> The problem with a young prospect, as he said,
14:59 all his punches are gonna be hard and effective.
15:02 And with a veteran like this, it's gonna be difficult to land that punch
15:05 that you can see coming from a mile away.
15:08 >> Yeah, I'd like to see Cal work his jab a little bit more
15:16 and work body-head combinations.
15:19 He does seem to be head-hugging most of the time.
15:25 >> Final ten seconds here in the fourth round.
15:34 [crowd shouting]
15:37 >> More in the books.
15:49 >> Andrew, your thoughts throughout this fight thus far?
15:54 >> Cal is starting to slow down in trying to pick his spots,
15:57 but as in the last punch that he threw here against Rose,
16:00 he threw it from so far away, it's difficult.
16:02 It's gonna be difficult to land against a veteran like this.
16:05 He's gonna have to be more direct and sharper with his shots.
16:09 This guy's not gonna go away.
16:11 >> Something's happening.
16:13 >> Waller called off.
16:14 >> I don't know what happened.
16:16 >> It'll be interesting to find out.
16:20 Some sort of injury or something has caused Juan Jose Velasco--
16:26 [crowd shouting]
16:28 Either he hurt his hand or Calum Walsh landed something
16:33 that has maybe hurt his jaw or is impairing his vision.
16:37 >> It was turning out to be a very good fight.
16:39 >> It was. I thought it was gonna get interesting.
16:42 >> Maybe a bit anticlimactic, but another stoppage win
16:46 for the King, Calum Walsh,
16:48 who is addressing the crowds here inside Commerce Casino,
16:52 almost a bit apologetic.
16:54 It wasn't his fault. Velasco unable to continue.
16:56 We'll try to do our best to figure out exactly why.
17:00 [crowd shouting]
17:06 But another win.
17:08 Still undefeated.
17:10 The King, Calum Walsh, now 8-0.
17:13 Another stoppage.
17:15 Again, he gets a win tonight over a guy who had
17:19 four times more fights than he had.
17:22 It is a statement.
17:23 There were some things I think that we saw tonight
17:26 about Calum's game that he needed to slow down,
17:29 needed to be patient, as Ava was mentioning.
17:32 Velasco was definitely game,
17:33 and it was shaping up to be a fun fight,
17:35 but ultimately, Calum Walsh does it again.
17:39 >> I'm curious as to exactly what it was that convinced
17:43 Team Velasco to keep their fighter on the stool
17:45 after four rounds.
17:47 >> Again, we will do our best,
17:50 but for the time of the stoppage,
17:52 we go to Lupe Contreras.
17:54 >> Ladies and gentlemen, the blue corner
17:55 in form 23, Andy Hernandez Sr.,
17:58 that they are no longer able to continue.
18:00 Obligating him to stop this contest upon the conclusion
18:03 of round number four.
18:04 Declaring the winner by way of knockout
18:07 and still WBC silver super welterweight champion,
18:13 still the King, King Calum Walsh!
18:21 Still undefeated, and still the WBC US silver champion,
18:28 King Calum Walsh gets his hand raised once again
18:31 tonight inside Commerce Casino as he addresses the crowd
18:35 after another win now 8-0 at home.
