00:05 "I can't believe it."
00:07 Welcome to Ms. Mojo.
00:09 And today, we'll be looking at the hidden details in some Disney animated favorites.
00:14 "This place is bombastic."
00:16 [Music]
00:18 Number 10. Nick's dubious application, Zootopia.
00:23 There are plenty of fun little details throughout Zootopia.
00:26 [Music]
00:30 You can spot a pair of elephants dressed like Anna and Elsa from Frozen
00:34 during Judy's train ride through Tundra Town.
00:36 But another detail you might have missed can be found in a more dramatic scene.
00:41 After Judy singles out predators as savages,
00:44 Nick storms out and leaves his police officer application.
00:47 "Oh, I think you said plenty."
00:49 "What do you mean?"
00:51 "Clearly, there's a biological component.
00:54 These predators may be reverting back to their primitive, savage ways."
00:58 One question on the form asks if the candidate has ever committed a crime or been arrested.
01:03 "I knew it.
01:05 Just when I thought somebody actually believed in me, huh?"
01:10 "Probably best if you don't have a predator as a partner."
01:14 If you look closely, you can see that Nick checked yes,
01:17 crossed it out, then checked no.
01:19 It's nice that his first instinct was to be honest, at least.
01:22 Number 9. Dr. Facilier's Deathly Curtains - The Princess and the Frog
01:27 The Shadow Man is an electric showman in his villainous song "Friends on the Other Side".
01:32 "Sit down at my table, put your mind at ease.
01:37 If you relax, it will enable me to do anything I please."
01:42 He's so charismatic that Naveen and Lawrence don't even notice a disturbing red flag.
01:47 After they take a seat, keep an eye on Facilier's shadow.
01:51 Not only does it have its own personality,
01:53 its presence also changes the curtains' patterns to skulls.
01:57 It's a scary addition that's easy to miss.
01:59 "I got voodoo, I got hoodoo, I got things I ain't even tried.
02:03 And I got friends on the other side."
02:07 There are, of course, other things hidden throughout New Orleans,
02:10 such as Aladdin's magic carpet and Ariel's father Triton as a parade float.
02:15 Mama Odie even appears to be in possession of the genie's lamp.
02:19 But Facilier's skull pattern curtains are really subtle,
02:22 and make him even more terrifying than he already is.
02:25 "The cards, the cards. Just take three.
02:30 Take a little trip into your future with me."
02:34 Many things are tucked away in the background of this 2010 film.
02:42 "Gotcha!"
02:43 "That's 22 for me.
02:47 How about 23 out of 45?"
02:50 You probably didn't notice Pinocchio in the rafters of the Snuggly Duckling,
02:55 or Rapunzel's cradle foreshadowing many characters she will meet in the film.
02:59 But these next few are probably the easiest to miss.
03:02 Rapunzel seems to pay homage to her princess predecessors through her art.
03:06 "So I'll wait up, or maybe two or three.
03:10 I'll add a few new paintings to my gallery."
03:15 Snow White's poison apple, Cinderella's glass slipper, Ariel's shell,
03:19 and Belle's rose all appear to be painted on the staircase.
03:23 Even Aurora's spinning wheel can be seen during "When Will My Life Begin?"
03:27 "And at your lunch it's puzzles and darts and baking.
03:31 Keepin' the shape up in a valet entrance."
03:35 Longtime fans have pointed out this film's many references to Disney's history.
03:43 "Hey, I think there's something written here, but it's hard to make out."
03:48 Some of us still remember pointing at the screen when we saw the Sultan's Beast figurine.
03:53 And Sebastian's cameo was pretty hard to miss.
03:56 "Can you make me a prince?"
03:58 "Oh, let's see. Chicken a la king?"
04:01 "No, that's king crab."
04:04 "I hate it when they do that."
04:05 But a lesser-known background detail has to do with the folktale's origins.
04:09 When Genie takes Aladdin's order during "Friend Like Me,"
04:12 you can see that he doesn't write in English or from left to right.
04:15 "Mr. Aladdin, sir, what will your pleasure be?"
04:19 "Let me take your order, judge it now."
04:22 "You ain't never had a friend like me."
04:24 That's because Aladdin was adapted from an Arabic story of the same name from "1,001 Nights."
04:29 The film may be American, but it does include references to the source material in small details.
04:40 While on his way to a fair, Belle's father Maurice comes across a signpost in the woods.
04:45 "We should be there by now. Maybe we missed the turn. I guess I should have taken a... wait a minute."
04:53 Upon first glance, it seems completely illegible.
04:56 But there are two words that are recognizable to hardcore Disney fans.
05:00 One sign appears to say "Valencia," the neighborhood where many of the studio's animators
05:04 attended the California Institute of the Arts.
05:07 The other sign looks like "Anaheim."
05:09 If Maurice had followed this sign, he might have ended up at Disneyland.
05:13 "Come on, it's a shortcut. We'll be there in no time."
05:18 If you look closely, you can also see the famous painting "Girl with a Pearl Earring"
05:22 in the background of the Beast's castle.
05:24 But the signpost is more fun to break down, and you'd probably have to press pause to do it.
05:29 "Wait a minute. Let's go this way."
05:36 Number 5. Hercules and the Mast of the Argo. Hercules.
05:41 It would be hard to adapt a legend this famous without mentioning other Greek myths.
05:45 "What a day. First that restaurant by the bay, and then that play, that Oedipus thing?
05:52 Man, I thought I had problems."
05:55 Some references in Hercules are obvious, but this one in particular might fly over your head
06:00 if you aren't familiar with the mythology.
06:02 Inside Phil's home, there's a log hanging from the ceiling.
06:05 He warns Hercules that it's actually part of the ship the hero Jason sailed on
06:09 in his quest to find the Golden Fleece.
06:11 "Watch it! That was part of the Mast of the Argo."
06:15 "The Argo?"
06:16 "Yeah. Who do you think taught Jason how to sail? Cleopatra?"
06:20 In some tellings, Hercules joined Jason and the Argonauts on the quest.
06:24 Later, Jason actually allegedly died when the stern of the rotting Argo fell off and hit him on the head.
06:30 Hercules bumping into it seems like a playful nod to the story.
06:34 "I trained all those would-be heroes. Odysseus, Perseus, Theseus, a lot of yuses."
06:41 Number 4. Belle in Paris, The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
06:45 In this loose adaptation of Victor Hugo's novel, Paris is packed with unique characters.
06:51 "All my life I wonder how it feels to pass a day, not above them, but part of them."
07:02 But one in particular stands out among the rest if you're paying attention.
07:06 As Quasimodo watches the townspeople from his bell tower,
07:09 we see a woman out on a stroll casually reading a book.
07:13 This is none other than Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
07:16 It makes sense that she'd make a cameo, seeing that her story is also set in France.
07:21 "Little town, full of little people, waking up to say..."
07:31 "Bonjour!"
07:34 As characters, she and Quasimodo are similarly viewed as outcasts from their communities.
07:39 Her appearance is brief, but you might be able to recognize her by her outfit from the beginning of her film.
07:45 "Ah, there among the millers and the weavers and their wives, through the rues and gables I can see them."
07:53 Number 3. Tiana and Naveen visit Arendelle, Frozen.
07:57 The Frozen franchise has many hidden cameos.
08:00 Both Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc. and Baymax from Big Hero 6 can be spotted as small figurines in the first and second films respectively.
08:08 "The lost fairies cry out, 'Grrrr!'"
08:11 "What sound does a giraffe make? Never mind, they wake the fairy queen, who breaks the spell and saves everyone!"
08:17 And you've probably heard of Rapunzel in Flynn's appearance in Arendelle.
08:21 "For the first time in forever, I'm getting to see, I'm dreaming of..."
08:30 But there's another cameo that we bet you haven't seen.
08:33 During "For the First Time in Forever," Elsa observes a crowd arriving for her coronation.
08:38 For a split second, a woman with a familiar green dress appears in the background.
08:43 "I can see a chance to find true love. I can see, don't feel, don't let them know it all ends tomorrow."
08:51 Fans have speculated that this is Princess Tiana from The Princess and the Frog, and to her right is supposedly Prince Naveen.
08:58 While there's no official confirmation that this is them, you have to admit that there is a resemblance.
09:04 Number 2. Cusco's Hidden Mickeys, The Emperor's New Groove
09:08 The iconic mouse is really his own genre of Easter egg.
09:12 As his image has appeared across various Disney movies,
09:15 you can spot him watching performances in both The Little Mermaid and A Goofy Movie.
09:20 "And the road is starting, I'm not used to meeting you."
09:25 "It's so good to see ya."
09:28 In Aladdin, Raja briefly resembles Mickey when Jafar's magic wears off.
09:33 And you'd have to have a keen eye to spot him in The Beast's library.
09:37 "I can't believe it. I've never seen so many books in all my life."
09:42 But did you find him in the opening number of this 2000 film?
09:45 "This story's about me, not him. Okay, you got it? Alright, we're gonna move ahead. Sorry to slow you down."
09:51 Cusco draws a lot of attention, so Mickey might be hard to spot.
09:55 In an overhead shot, take a look at the dishes Cusco's being served.
09:59 In them, you'll see the iconic three-circle silhouette made out of the food.
10:03 "And this perfect world will spin, around his every little whim,
10:08 'cause this perfect world begins and ends with me!"
10:12 Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
10:16 Han's wanted poster, Big Hero 6.
10:19 A criminal in Arendelle and San Fransokyo.
10:22 "Kid, how about we call your parents and get them down here?"
10:26 "What?"
10:27 "Write your name and number down on this piece of paper."
10:30 The Jungle Book and Toy Story 2 posters, meet the Robinsons.
10:33 Just some marketing for Disney and Pixar classics.
10:36 "Go, go! Wake up!"
10:39 The King and Grand Duke, The Little Mermaid.
10:50 Two Cinderella characters appear at another royal wedding.
10:53 "Who are you little--?"
10:56 [Squealing]
10:59 [Screaming]
11:02 Jock the Hyena, The Lion King.
11:04 The shadow of a Scottish terrier appears to be allied with Scar.
11:08 "There is one little problem. You see them.
11:11 They think I'm king."
11:16 "Well, we don't. Simba's the rightful king."
11:19 The Troll's clothing, Enchanted.
11:21 Are his clothes made of the dresses of other princesses?
11:24 "Who loves this?"
11:27 "Oh, you shall not prevail, foul troll! That maiden is mine!"

11:47 Number 1. Oh My Disney, Ralph Breaks the Internet.
11:51 The first Wreck-It Ralph paid homage to video game history and even Walt Disney's birth date.
11:57 "If you've got a magic hammer from your father, how hard can it be?
12:01 If he was a regular contractor, carpenter guy,
12:05 I guarantee you, you would not be able to fix the damage that I do."
12:09 But the sequel was an Easter egg extravaganza.
12:12 An early one is a pop-up ad that appears to feature Cass from Big Hero 6,
12:16 but the bulk of them are during Vanellope's trip to a Disney website.
12:20 Some of the references are pretty obvious,
12:23 but there are too many to catch them all on a first viewing.
12:26 "To infinity and beyond!"
12:29 "Oh, come on. Princesses and cartoon characters? Blame."
12:37 "Hey."
12:38 In the background, you can see Clarabelle, Honey Lemon, Humphrey the Bear,
12:42 Woodlure, Judy Hopps, and Rocket Raccoon.
12:46 You can also spot things like Spiral Hill from The Nightmare Before Christmas
12:49 and the Jolly Roger from Peter Pan.
12:52 If you blink even once, you're likely to miss a few of these.
12:56 "Hey, picture read! Cash memories only!"
12:59 Which of these background details did you spot? Let us know in the comments.
13:03 "Ah, so you haven't told them your little secret."
