00:00 May I present your coronation roll?
00:07 It's from Miles.
00:09 It's 30 pages and what we've tried to do is to honour the traditions of the role,
00:15 but also do a few things to embrace modernity as well.
00:19 So this is the title page, which although William and Mary did have a title page,
00:25 it didn't have the same amount of illustration as this does.
00:30 And then as you'll see when we show you the historic rolls,
00:33 the colours are drawn from Edward II's roll, which is the earliest surviving roll,
00:41 and this format is exactly the same as Her Late Majesty.
00:45 At least it's in English, isn't it?
00:47 It is in English, exactly.
00:49 It's a mixture of Latin, ancient Norman French in the medieval period.
00:55 But I'm riveted. I just read that after 1308 and the year of the second,
01:03 there was quite a lot of missing all the way through. It's extraordinary.
01:08 I think this is going to be the 18th roll, who knows?
01:11 Disintegrated or...
01:12 Possibly. Possibly.
01:14 And they're all held in the National Archives. We've got a few to show you.
01:17 It's all actually sewn together.
01:19 So it's stitched together, so it's paper, so there's no animal product involved.
01:25 And they're sewn in what's called chancery stitch, so there's 30 pages.
01:29 It's something like 11,600 words.
01:31 And they're literally rolled up, rolled down.
01:34 So you're about to meet the heraldic artist who's done that,
01:37 and then the calligrapher will just do a...
01:40 I was reassured this paper had been used since the medieval period
01:44 and there are still surviving examples of it, so it should last for a few hundred years.
01:50 And then we're going to show you the procession,
01:55 because what we've done that was slightly different to previous rolls is...
01:58 The pages, if you've got it wrong, you can check again.
02:00 I certainly didn't dare. We've had so many people check it, I was very much hoping.
02:07 And the underlining in red, is that a particular...?

02:39 We're going to be selling it around and launching it on Friday.
02:42 Fantastic. There's a lot of detail in it, that's great.
02:44 Yeah, absolutely. We've worked with a lot of different organisations to pull in...
02:48 I'm just going to walk to the right in a moment, if that's okay.
