Darley netball coach Di McCormack after round 4 win
Transcript
00:00I will say though, it escalated very quickly. Half time it was a bit touch and go and that third quarter you were just terrific.
00:06Yeah, I think we probably started poorly because we came with the wrong sort of mindset.
00:11And we changed our defense style up, which also helped.
00:15And we're trying a lot of new combos. Like, you know, we don't have Becca back in the ring.
00:20But, you know, Liv, Ella, Mon, it doesn't matter what sort of combo I'm playing in their work.
00:27And the feeds going into them have just, you know, Ella has that nailed.
00:32And now we're getting the others to get that height to them done.
00:35It's good to see the young girls. You know, we've got Addie, first time play A grade.
00:41Come up and she's just, she's going to be a dynamite.
00:44And it's good for us in the future knowing that I can keep pulling up these juniors, these young girls to come in.
00:50Same with Lucy, first full season in the A grade.
00:53Jamie, but the midcourt's just, I find all of our changes are a bit seamless at the moment.
00:59So I'm happy with that.
01:00Yeah, I was going to say, you're still, obviously, I've seen you ramped up a lot more than that, though.
01:04And so, I mean, there's still a lot of work to do, isn't there, to get yourself back to where you need to be.
01:08Yeah. Look, you know, it's game four, new combos.
01:12And I don't do a lot of preseason with the girls because I'm not in the country.
01:16So we're sort of doing a lot of our work in match day and taking things that we're practicing and training
01:22and trying to implement them.
01:23Whereas if I had had a stronger preseason with them, we probably would be hitting the ground running a bit different at the moment.
01:29You're saying it's seamless, but it is a different look, particularly under the ring.
01:32I mean, everyone's sort of clicking into gear, though, you feel?
01:35Oh, 100%. Whether I play Liv out of G.A. or Ella out of G.A.
01:39And, like, even putting Mom back into G.S., you know, she might be the shorter one, but she's smart with her movements.
01:45So, you know, when we need to split up those defenders who just want to go and sit in double team, it's a good option for us.
01:51And both Liv and Ella are learning G.A.
01:54So let's go and see what we're like by the end of the season when they've had more experience with that.
01:59Because in their VNL clubs, they're both post-up goals.
02:02Yeah, yeah, exactly. No worries at all.
02:04A word for Ballarat today. As I said, they really came out and pushed you early.
02:08A few changes and you were able to get away from them.
02:11Yeah, I think we just need to settle and play our game a little bit.
02:14And we came on and I think we wanted to be a little bit flashy, like play the ball too fast.
02:19Not, you know, figure some basic rules that we have set into our game plan.
02:23But once they brought that back in, they were pretty solid, I mean.
02:27Take a 30-goal win any day of the week, wouldn't you?
02:30Yeah, well, at first I thought we might be pushing for a win.
02:33A three-goal win would have been nice early, wouldn't it?
02:35Yeah, but no, no, I think the girls will just keep getting better and stronger the more we're on the court together.
