Bella murder: Court sets May 20 for mention to transfer case to High Court

A Magistrate's Court in Batu Pahat, Johor, on Monday (May 6) scheduled May 20 for the next mention of the case involving a man accused of murdering his friend, Mila Sharmilah Samsusah, also known as Bella, for the purpose of transferring it to the High Court.

00:32 During the hearing, defense lawyer Syahril Anwar Haroon, representing 25-year-old accused
00:37 Mohamed Haikal Mahfouz, requested an earlier date due to two previous delays in March and April.
00:44 Mohamed Haikal was charged on January 24 with the murder of 32-year-old Mila Sharmila,
00:49 which allegedly occurred between 11 p.m. on December 14 and 5.30 a.m. on December 15, 2023,
00:56 at multiple locations including Jalan Kelapa Bali, Taman Soga, Jalan Parit Besar, Kampung Parit Besar,
01:04 and an abandoned house in Lorong Imam Jailani, Jalan Besar, Tongkang Pecah in Batu Pahat.
01:11 He faces charges under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which can result in the death penalty
01:17 or 30 to 40 years in prison, with at least 12 strokes of the cane if the death sentence is not imposed.

01:29 went missing after reportedly leaving her home in her boyfriend's car
01:33 to visit a laundromat around 11.50 p.m. on December 14 last year.
