00:05applied by the government of the president of Argentina, Javier Milley, after he announced

00:10the elimination of its signal from the open digital television grid.

00:14Patricia Villegas, president of Telesur, denounced the media censorship directed against Telesur

00:20in Argentina represents a serious attack on the right to information by limiting access

00:25to dissident voices, restricting the plurality of information, undermining the possibility

00:30of holding informed opinions and actively participating in the public debate in a scenario

00:35where diversity of opinions and the free circulation of ideas are fundamental for the functioning

00:41of a democratic society.

00:43Villegas also warned that the human cost of the chainsaw that has cut pensions and retirement

00:48pensions, reduced public salaries, increased the poverty of millions of Argentine men and

00:53women and threatens to extinguish Argentina's highly recognized public education.

00:59Now there is a worrisome blow against freedom of expression and plurality of voices, which

01:04paves a worrying step backwards in the path towards a society that builds its own criteria

01:10and sovereign thought.

01:12Those who wield the species of freedom with their actions, which is what it counts, cut

01:17that freedom to a project that builds sovereignty.

01:21The president of Telesur assured that we understand that a signal that smells and tastes

01:25like homeland is mortifying for them.

01:28The Macri government had already denounced the agreement with the same backdrop and actions
