00:00You see, the dog on the road can hardly give me anything.
00:03In fact, there is a danger if I go close to it, it might turn upon me, bark or even bite.
00:08But still, if I want to do something nice to it, that probably comes close to compassion.
00:14Taking care of the ones who are related to you by way of a reciprocal arrangement can
00:20hardly be called as compassion.
00:22I do good to you and in the bargain you will do good to me, that's not compassion.
00:28Taking care of people who belong to your own sect or community or ideology, that too again
00:33cannot be called as compassion.
00:35Or taking care of people because that would fetch you fame or recognition, that again
00:40cannot be called as compassion.
00:42Wherever self-interest is involved, compassion is ruled out.
00:46And self-interest is seen both in cruelty and in the normal kind of care and concern.
00:53None of these belong to the same plane as compassion.
