Burnley FC writer Matt Scrafton delivers his verdict after relegation was confirmed following the 2-1 defeat to Tottenham.
Transcript
00:00 Just here outside Tottenham Hotspur Stadium where Burnley's relegation to the Championship has been confirmed with a 2-1 defeat to Spurs.
00:09 It's been a long time coming, they've finally put out their misery.
00:14 But at least they went down with a bit of a fight, it was a valiant effort.
00:18 Brutally they gave themselves hope, going 1-0 up in the first half, Jacob Boone-Larsen.
00:23 He made a good run from Sanderberg, showed bravery to get on the ball, flipped him through and a good finish from Brian Larsen.
00:30 Unfortunately they couldn't hold on to that lead for long, only 7 minutes I think it was in the end.
00:35 But Spurs equalised and in the second half, to be fair Burnley had a couple of chances to start the second half but after that it was all Spurs.
00:41 Burnley didn't really have an answer and then the winner came fairly late on but even then a point wouldn't have been enough.
00:50 So that just confirmed the inevitable.
00:54 I can't put it into reflective mood afterwards, I'm sure we'll hear more from him throughout the week as we lead into the Forest game next week.
01:02 There's obviously nothing on that now.
01:04 A frustrating day for Burnley but probably an inevitable one.
01:08 It's been in the cards for a while so maybe it doesn't hurt as much but it should do because it's still a relegation.
01:13 After the highs of last season, how well they did to get 101 points and the trophy parade, I think that went with that.
01:20 To result in this season where they got 24 points has been a really, really disappointing.
01:24 I don't think anyone saw this coming, how poor they've been.
01:27 No real complaints really with the end result but still a tough one to take.
