00:00 Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:03 The redevelopment of a former Derbyshire theme park site, including emergency measures for a potential catastrophic dam collapse, will be expanded into the protected greenbelt.
00:14 Government Planning Inspector Elaine Moulton has approved the expansion plans from the developers behind the former American Adventure theme park site in Shipley, despite opposition from residents.
00:25 Waystone Developments had sought to expand its scheme by half an acre into the greenbelt and Shipley Country Park, requiring the movement of a public footpath.
00:34 Last June this plan was rejected by Amberbury Borough Council on the back of 390 objection letters submitted by residents.
00:41 But Ms Moulton has now approved the development following an appeal, which stems from a need for more land to make way for a 17 to 22 metre wide valley to be created for a diverted watercourse, taking water from Osborne's Pond and Coppice Lake into Shipley Lake, offsetting the impact of a potential dam collapse at Osborne Pond, which is now classed as a reservoir.
01:02 In sport, Chesterfield have made a big statement of intent with the signing of striker Paddy Madden.
01:09 The 34-year-old has penned a two-year deal with the Spyrites.
01:12 He scored 22 goals in all competitions as he captained Stockport County to the League Two title this season.
01:19 The forward leaves the Hatters on a free transfer after the two parties could not come to a satisfactory agreement.
01:25 On signing for the Blues, Madden said, "I am buzzing to get the deal done. It's a massive club that I have always enjoyed playing against. The supporters have always followed the club fantastically."
01:34 Throughout his whole career, Madden has scored 226 goals in 662 appearances.
01:40 He becomes Chesterfield's second summer signing already after tacker Kane Drummond joined from Macclesfield last week.
01:46 week.
