00:00 I'm here with Old Dominion who just won their seventh group of the year.
00:06 Exactly! You can't even count it on one hand. Unreal. So where are you going to keep this one?
00:16 Like are you running out of space? Well the house is getting bigger.
00:27 You have to buy a bigger house for all your awards. You open a bar and you put them in there.
00:32 Well all right I'm going to come back to the award in a second but you led me right into Odie's.
00:37 So how is your bar going to be different from all the other artist bars on lower Broadway?
00:45 I mean first of all it's not on Broadway so it's in Midtown which is really close to Music Row and
00:51 there's you know it's really accessible to all the songwriters and a lot of locals so
00:56 tourists will be there but also locals will be there. We'll be there you know and we're being
01:01 very careful to not make it you know a shrine to Old Dominion. We want it to be a cool neighborhood
01:07 bar that might have you know our vibe more so than our faces everywhere. So we just want to
01:13 set up a place that we would want to go. But nothing but good vibes. All good vibes. See what I did there?
01:19 Yeah I saw that. You're right on point. I'm on point. You know where you're going. I'm on point. So I know the person
01:26 before me was just talking to you about all this influx of non-country artists coming in. We're
01:32 looking at Avril Lavigne singing with Nate Smith right now. Who would you really like to duet with?
01:39 Oh my gosh. Who's not in country right now? My go-to is always Lenny Kravitz. That would be amazing.
01:46 Yeah. John Mayer would be amazing. Paul McCartney. Aim big. Yeah right. Yeah. That's what we do.
01:56 Paul if you're listening we're waiting for you. Matt in your acceptance speech you talked about
02:04 being able to go back to those days in your head where you weren't even making enough for your
02:10 heat bill. Yeah. You couldn't pay your heat bill. How important is is it when you're winning year
02:15 after year after year to be able to take yourself back to that space? It's very important. It's you
02:21 know it keeps you grounded and it helps us kind of I think you know relate to who our fans are
02:26 because we are very fortunate and they have given us the life that we have and some of them are
02:31 probably honestly struggling to do the same thing. So our goal hopefully is to lift them up and make
02:36 them feel good and give them a break from thinking about all that stuff. So it really is a beautiful
02:41 thing to know that that's where we came from. I struggled and music helped me and if we can
02:46 provide that for our fans then we are winners no matter what trophy we get. How do you kind of not
02:53 get to the point where you expect to hear your name? After we lose. Yeah. Once that happens we'll
03:02 no longer expect it. I gotta say today the gentleman's name escapes me who uh presented
03:09 the award. Tyler. Tyler. But he really was like and the winner is. Also I could tell he's gonna
03:16 say Alderman. He really wound up. Unless he wins. Oh my god. So is there part of you that you're
03:26 you know you're kind of like holding your breath? Oh yeah. For sure. Absolutely. Every single time
03:32 because the truth is I mean yes we've won it seven years in a row but that is no guarantee.
03:37 Anyone can have a huge year especially with the talent that is in this category so we look up to
03:43 them. They're our friends. We happen to be a little bit more fortunate on this evening but
03:50 we're all in there together. On seven evenings. Seven consecutive years.
03:55 Thank you very very much and congratulations. Thank you so much. Take care.
