00:25These are just a few of the well-known beaches in Ilocos Norte, the home province of President Bongbong Marcos.

00:31And to make the travelers' experience more comfortable,

00:35the first tourist rest area in Northern Luzon, located in Municipal Beach, Pagudput, was opened.

00:41It was led by the President, together with Tourism Secretary Cristina Garcia-Frasco.

00:46Here, the President also allowed the administration's desire for the country to become a tourism powerhouse.

00:53In Ilocos Norte alone, we received more than 3.5 million same-day visitors in 2023.

01:00And around 515,000 domestic and foreign tourists stayed for longer in hotels and in resorts.

01:09It shows that we have the attraction, we have the products, and we have the people to make it happen.

01:15I am truly proud to call this land my home.

01:19It will serve as a one-stop shop for visitors to the tourist rest area,

01:23which has a tourist information and assistance desk, charging and workstation,

01:27free internet connection, food and welcome center.

01:31Kabigan Falls, Patapat Viaduct, and Blue Lagoon in Pagudput are also nearby.

01:37These TRAs have been established across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

01:43With 10 having been constructed in 2023 until 2024,

01:48and with at least 20 more to be constructed upon the directive of our President,

01:53as high north as Batanes, to as south as Sulu and Tawitawi,

01:59east in Eastern Samar, and as far west as Brooks Point in Palawan.

02:07The DOT hopes that the tourist rest areas will also be able to provide livelihoods to local small and medium enterprises.
