00:13 award-winning funk and soul band Cool and the Gang are headlining at the M&S
00:16 Bank Arena on Friday 26th of July. Joining them as special guests will be
00:20 Liverpool's soul legends The Real Thing. Celebrating their 60th anniversary Cool
00:24 and the Gang have performed continuously longer than any R&B group in history.
00:28 In the Park Festival takes place at Liverpool's Sefton Park this July. Catfish
00:33 and the Bottlemen are headlining on Thursday 11th. Jamie Webster's playing on
00:37 Friday 12th alongside special guests Red Rum Club and Cream Classical will be
00:41 taking over on Saturday 13th. As well as a full day of music and entertainment
00:45 there'll be an array of food and drink concessions around the festival site.
00:50 Katrina, formerly of Katrina and the Waves, is this year's headline act at
00:54 Pride in Liverpool. The former Eurovision winner will be on the main
00:57 stage which is returning to the world-famous Liverpool waterfront on
01:00 Saturday 27th of July. Known for hits including Walking on Sunshine and Going
01:05 Down to Liverpool. Taking place across the August Bank holiday Liverpool
01:09 celebrates Matthew Street Festival will commemorate the 10-year anniversary of
01:13 the last Matthew Street with dozens of acts over the four-day music extravaganza
01:18 such as Holly Johnson, The Lightning Seeds, China Crisis and The Jacksons.
01:24 International Beatle Week Festival is back in the city from Wednesday 21st
01:28 until Tuesday 27th of August. It's a gathering of like-minded people here in
01:34 Liverpool where it all began to celebrate one thing and that is the
01:39 Beatles. Whether it be through their music, through their stories or just
01:43 through sharing a pint with someone and just enjoying with like-minded friends
01:47 people make friends for life. There is so much to do and see you don't need to be
01:52 a Beatles fan to enjoy it although it does probably help. Sunday at the Adelphi
01:56 we take over the whole of the hotel every room is used and besides the live
02:00 news that's where we have our special guests. So many this year but the
02:03 highlights is a good friend of ours May Pang who was John Lennon's girlfriend
02:07 during the famous Lost Weekend. Live music is the focus of International
02:11 Beatle Week not only is the live music on the Caverns three stages all day
02:14 every day with a different band on every hour but they are taking over various
02:19 venues across the city and beyond. We're taking everybody on the day out of the
02:24 seaside we're taking them over to New Brighton for the day on the Saturday and
02:27 we're taking over the Floral Pavilion Theatre which is a beautiful theatre and
02:31 the whole of New Brighton are getting involved on this International Beatle
02:34 Week comes to the Wirral but it's relevant because the Beatles played in
02:38 New Brighton about 24 times at the old Tower Ballroom and also the Rolling
02:43 Stones played there once exactly 60 years ago this August so we're
02:48 celebrating we're doing a Beatles Rolling Stones show as well so it should
02:52 be good fun. This is a truly international event with 70 bands from
02:56 over 20 countries and fans from all across the world.
