00:00 Rick and Morty has seen its fair share of star cameos since it first debuted in 2013.
00:05 With almost every guest appearance, there comes a price for the creators of the show.
00:09 Whether it's a weird request for the cosmetics of the character, or the demand for the absence of nudity,
00:14 these celebs really pushed the boat out when it came to their contractual agreements and the final outcome that we got to see.
00:20 And so, with that in mind then, I'm Ellie with WhatCulture, here with 8 Unusual Demands Made by Guest Stars on Rick and Morty.
00:26 Number 8 - David Cross was uncomfortable with nudity
00:31 Episode 4 of the first season, M Night Shyamalian, saw Arrested Development actor David Cross featuring in a cameo role.
00:39 In the episode, he plays one of Rick's self-proclaimed enemies, Prince Nebulon,
00:43 and leads a race of aliens with a very particular phobia that some fans of the actor may recognize.
00:48 Known for playing a man uncomfortable with nudity while on Arrested Development,
00:52 Cross suggested to the writers of the show that they should incorporate this little easter egg into the show to tie some of his work together.
00:58 Not only is this a genius comedic move, but it's also nice that the show agreed to pay homage to the series that really helped the actor take off.
01:05 His role as the Prince of the Zygerians is hilarious, and the storyline of the episode is vastly improved by his hatred of nudity,
01:12 yet obsession with finding Rick's concentrated dark matter so that he can tend to the discoloration of his butthole flaps.
01:18 Yes, the episode is fairly chaotic and vulgar, but what else do you expect from the show?
01:22 Number 7. Alfred Molina wanted to continue his evil streak
01:27 Known for his role as Doc Ock in the Spider-Man film series, as well as his role as Multibear in the hit animation series Gravity Falls,
01:35 Alfred Molina is not afraid of being the bad guy. It turns out he actually quite likes it.
01:40 In season 1, we are introduced to Summer's boss at the shop Needful Things,
01:44 known as the Devil, Mr. Lucius Needful, takes pleasure in gifting unsuspecting customers with objects designed to make their lives as good as hell.
01:52 Played perfectly by Molina, this character has no sympathetic bone in his body.
01:56 For example, his impotency-inducing shaving cream went down a treat when bought for finding a potential female mate.
02:02 Despite all this, he treats his staff member Summer with respect and prioritises running a successful business by whatever means necessary.
02:09 As Molina is known for his evil roles, this cameo was perfect for the actor, and he accepted the opportunity to add another villainous feather to his evil top hat.
02:18 The episode is one giant comment on the big business superpowers running the world of technology,
02:23 making multiple harsh remarks to Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg and their questionable histories.
02:28 Number 6. Alex Hirsch wanted to see what it's like on enemy turf
02:33 Known for his creation of hit Disney XD animation series Gravity Falls, it's only fitting that Alex Hirsch was given a role on the show.
02:40 Hirsch and the creator of Rick and Morty, Justin Roiland, are best mates, so it was about time Roiland listened to Hirsch's demands and gave him a spot on the show.
02:48 His character is known as Toby Matthews, a very regular American schoolboy who Summer has a fat crush on.
02:53 The episode is titled Big Trouble in Little Sanchez, and follows the story of how tiny Rick befriends Toby and then manages to get him to ask Summer to throw a party at her house.
03:03 As the night comes to an end, tiny Rick turns everyone against Summer and ultimately cockblocks her chances of getting with Toby.
03:09 The blonde-haired, goateed teen is mostly modeled off the appearance of his voice actor, and you can tell the two friends had fun with this character behind the scenes.
03:16 Toby's role is short-lived as he is abducted by the Galactic Federation, who then use his brain to create a short film.
03:22 Number 5. Susan Sarandon wanted to return to sci-fi
03:27 Perhaps one of the bigger celebrity stars to feature on the show, Susan Sarandon joined Rick and Morty as Dr. Wong, the family therapist.
03:35 It's not the most glamorous of roles, but her character will forever be known as the only person to have ever outsmarted the might of Rick.
03:42 In recent years, Sarandon normally assumes the plain Jane motherly role in movies such as Tammy or her latest venture, Ride the Eagle.
03:49 But Susan's career started off in the world of weird and wacky sci-fi with the well-known film The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
03:56 So when Sarandon was offered a role on the show, she was more than happy to return.
04:00 Lucky for her, the request for some wacky sci-fi was taken on board.
04:03 Dr. Wong was featured on one of the most well-known episodes of Rick and Morty, in which the iconic Pickle Rick makes his debut appearance.
04:11 It doesn't get any better than that for a guest cameo.
04:13 Sarandon goes on to feature a few more times in the series, and every time she delivers a brilliant performance.
04:19 Somehow, her voice is so well-suited to the calm and slightly condescending therapist.
04:23 4. Logic Wanted to be Logic
04:27 What better way to boost your rap career than by appearing on a hit TV series as yourself?
04:33 This was an incredibly smart career move for Logic, and also produced some pretty hilarious content for Rick and Morty.
04:39 After expressing his appreciation for the show, Sir Robert Bryson Hall II, or Logic, requested to be featured in one of their episodes, and even managed to get a bit of rap in there.
04:48 The animation captured the rapper's features and clothing style perfectly, and aired when Logic was at the height of his career.
04:54 His song "1-800" had just been released, and it seems that he didn't really capitalise on the newfound fame after that.
05:00 Maybe he was always just in it for the cameo opportunity. Who knows?
05:04 Despite the short appearance at the very end of the episode, the rapper's cameo during the Noob Noob Party was pretty hilarious, and his song was kinda catchy too.
05:12 It would have been nice to have seen some more from the character in the show, but Rick had unfortunately only drunkenly booked him for one night.
05:19 3. Danny Trejo Wanted to Keep His Bad Boy Persona
05:23 Susan Sarandon wasn't the only lucky celeb to feature on the iconic Pickle Rick episode.
05:29 Another star to make his debut on Rick and Morty is a well-known hard-ass Danny Trejo.
05:33 In the series, he voices the character Jaguar. Jaguar is a typical MO for Trejo, as he is a criminal who has been kept in prison.
05:40 This bad boy character has a soft side to him and actually happens to be close friends with Rick.
05:45 When he's not playing the head of a cartel runner in Breaking Bad, Trejo is usually playing a slightly comedic role, featuring on shows such as Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
05:53 This role was far more unusual for the actor, and the writers of the show were happy to accept his request of keeping up the badass persona.
05:59 The character has the perfect Trejo balance of villain and softie.
06:03 In the episode, Jaguar takes a similar appearance to his voice actor, and is a serious threat to Pickle Rick.
06:08 In exchange for the release of his daughter, the assassin accepts the mission of killing Pickle Rick.
06:12 The whole drama ends with two besties and a dangerous team who ultimately take down the puppeteers behind the whole scheme and free his daughter.
06:20 2. Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele came as a pair
06:24 Have you ever seen these two in separate rooms?
06:27 Joined at the hip, comedians and actors Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele are featured in the first episode of Season 2, A Wrickle in Time.
06:35 The episode follows a complex story in which Rick unfreezes time only to discover that three alternative realities have been created.
06:42 Their characters, fourth dimension time cops by the name of Schlemerpants, appear and scold Rick for his shoddy timekeeping work,
06:48 and proceeds to inform Summer, Rick and Morty that they will be placed in time prison for eternity.
06:54 In response, Rick attacks Schlemerpants and kills his gun Chris, and proceeds to shatter time even further, multiplying the number of alternate dimensions on the screen.
07:02 There is so much to unpack about this episode, but one of the real highlights is the cameo done by Key and Peele as they appear as time cops,
07:09 and seem to have a lot of fun being the angry red vascular testicle monsters that they are.
07:13 Good luck keeping up with this episode as there are quite a few dimensions to go through before you get to the end.
07:17 1. Elon Musk wanted tusks
07:21 Now this one is perhaps one of the weirder requests for the show.
07:25 Elon Musk is known for being a fan of all things sci-fi, with Rick and Morty being no exception.
07:30 The billionaire businessman loves to poke fun at himself, and does so quite effectively with his cameo as Elon Tusk, the wonder of Tuskler.
07:38 What would you do if a famous billionaire got your contact details and requested that you feature him on the show, but with tusks?
07:44 Another smart business move for the show, they agreed, and thus the comedic gold that is Elon Tusk was born.
07:49 The character is pretty much the same as the real deal, besides the obvious orthodontal differences.
07:54 Money can buy you anything, even a cameo on your favourite wacky animation series.
07:59 Elon could buy Rick and Morty if he wanted to.
08:02 Instead, he very politely asked to be featured on the show, with a name change and two elongated front teeth protruding from his mouth.
08:09 I mean, if you were given the opportunity to feature on the show, what would you want to look like?
08:13 And that concludes our list. If you can think of any that we missed, then do let us know in the comments below.
