00:07 construction of the new Yirrapadala Regional Hospital has been given the green light with
00:12 State significant development approval having been received from the State Consent Authority.
00:18 This is a major milestone in the development of the new Yirrapadala Regional Hospital project.
00:24 Work to prepare the site for main works will soon get underway with construction of the
00:28 new Yirrapadala Regional Hospital expected to start in mid-2024 following the appointment
00:34 of a main works contractor.
00:37 As a doctor, local MP and Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Regional Health, I've long
00:42 advocated for investment in regional health facilities.
00:46 The new Level 4 Yirrapadala Regional Hospital will save lives and allow more people to receive
00:52 world-class critical care closer to home.
00:55 Our community can now look forward to the building of the new Yirrapadala Regional Hospital
01:00 established as a Level 4 health facility including a modernised and enhanced critical care service
01:06 including a Level 4 accident and emergency department with a short stay ward, an 8-bed
01:11 intensive care close observation unit, increased capacity and access for local chemotherapy
01:18 and renal dialysis, increased surgical services with new operating theatres and a day stay
01:23 unit, expanded medical imaging including on-site MRI, ambulatory care for community outpatient
01:30 services, paediatric and maternity services with a special care nursery, short-term admission
01:36 mental health beds and enhanced education and training facilities including a simulation
01:42 lab.
01:43 I'm very excited that the NSW MINS Labor Government is getting on with the job of getting
01:49 closer to delivering the new Level 4 Yirrapadala Regional Hospital to provide the improved
01:54 health service which our community deserves.
01:58 The State's significant development application process has been a complex process involving
02:03 environmental impact studies, exhibition of plans, collating and response to submissions,
02:09 advice from agencies and requests for additional information.
02:15 It's incorporated the submission and review of design and architectural plans and geotechnical
02:22 studies as well as reports from civil engineering, aviation, traffic and transport, heritage,
02:30 emergency services such as SES and RFS.
02:35 I look forward to keeping you informed of the progress of this generational development
02:39 towards a new Level 4 Yirrapadala Regional Hospital which will improve health services
02:45 for the entire Yirrapadala region.
