11:05Martin starts into his off-key verse and sends Short for a loop.

11:11with the latter even motioning to his ear in a funny bit of improvisation.
11:15We've never seen it. Not in person anyway.
11:18Snow. I want to go outside and touch a bunch of snow.
11:26These two professionals have been working for so long
11:29that they know how to roll with a mistake.
11:31Through the power of song, they find a way to work through the pain.
11:35It's also great to see they both can rib each other on live TV.

11:50Brittany Murphy The Leatherman
11:53A sketch starring Notorious Breaker Jimmy Fallon and some ill-timed sound effects
11:59sounds like a recipe for chaos.
12:01And that's exactly what a sketch from this episode gives.
12:05Can I get you into some leather?
12:07Well, these are kind of nice.
12:09No, these are fabulous, actually.
12:11Murphy plays a customer interested in purchasing a pair of snake-skin pants.
12:16She really sinks her teeth into the comedy,
12:19and leans into the ridiculousness of the scenario.
12:22And, props to her, she lasts far longer than we could have,
12:26especially once Horatio Sanz enters the scene.
12:29Choo-choo!
12:37Why did I give him that whip for his birthday?
12:40However, she eventually can't hold it back any longer.
12:43When she does break, though, she continues the scene so seamlessly
12:46that it almost looks like a character quirk, rather than genuine laughter.

13:00Given Rudolph's experience as a former SNL cast member,
13:03you might assume she'd have keeping a straight face down to a fine art.
13:08And sure, that might be the case.
13:10Until she's paired up with Kristen Wiig.
13:13It's a real holland born!
13:15When she returned as host and co-starred in this particularly memorable skit
13:19as a game show spokesmodel,
13:21the results were downright tumultuous and utterly hilarious.
13:25Their exaggerated accents and ridiculous prizes are enough to make anyone chuckle.
13:31That's a chicken man guarantee.
13:33If your man likes chicken, you might like chicken!
13:37Hader and Wiig are visibly struggling to keep their composure along with Rudolph.
13:42However, it's Wiig's antics on the golf cart that properly set her off.
13:47Not only does Wiig break the set, but she breaks Rudolph too.

13:57Few things are funnier than a kid with an old soul.
14:00Just ask Jonah Hill.
14:02He plays Adam Grossman, a six-year-old who seems possessed by,

14:29Hill is absolutely hysterical as the overconfident, chatty child,
14:34so it's hardly surprising that not only does he make Jones break repeatedly,
14:38but he can barely hold it together himself.
14:41You're giving me nothing here!
14:43It's like pulling teeth without a string!
14:46How about some chef tricks? That'll lighten the mood.
14:49He goes above and beyond to bring this colorful character to life,
14:53and he does such a stellar job that even he can't help but laugh.

15:10with Barbara and Dave
15:12Barbara, what brings you to the prestigious Welchley Oggs?

15:18Barrymore is practically an SNL Hall of Famer.
15:21She first hosted the show in 1982, when she was just seven years old,
15:25and joined the Five Timers Club in 2007.
15:29However, as this sketch proves,
15:31experience means nothing when something is just that darn funny.
15:36We submitted to his ravenous desires.
15:41As the three of us became one with the great eagle spirit.
15:45Let's be honest.
15:46Will Ferrell entered this sketch determined to crack up his scene mates,
15:50and he succeeds.
15:52In fact, his and Rachel Dratch's commitment to their characters
15:55make it impossible to remain poker-faced.

16:37Chris Farley knew how to make everyone cackle,
16:40and the cast was no exception.
16:42According to David Spade, Farley hid some of his character quirks,
16:46like readjusting his pants until the live show,
16:49with the likely intention of surprising and breaking his castmates.
16:53He succeeded.
16:55Well, la dee frickin' da!
16:58Spade and host Christina Applegate can barely hide their giggles,
17:02and the more physical Farley gets, the more they struggle.

17:34making him fall apart completely.

18:41one of the skits she did was a spoof of an actress' roundtable discussion,
18:46featuring Robbie doing a fairly good Keira Knightley impression.

19:37The Barry Gibb talk show.

19:40If anyone has proven themselves to be an SNL all-star,
19:43it's Justin Timberlake.
19:45To join the five-timers club,
19:47you can't be a slouch in the comedian department.
19:50Welcome to the five-timers club.
19:52We've been expecting you, Mr. Timberlake.
19:54Wow.
19:55Smoking jacket?
19:56Please.
19:57But even five-timers fall sometimes.
19:59In one of Timberlake's earlier performances on the show,
20:02he did a skit with Jimmy Fallon titled The Barry Gibb Talk Show.
20:06In the skit, Fallon plays the titular Gibb,
20:09taking on the singer's signature falsetto and speaking voice.
20:13What effect do you think this is gonna have on California politics as a whole?

20:22but sometimes has a hard time, understandably,

20:50Flubbing your lines in a sketch featuring a PSA-like message
20:54from the Right to Extreme Stupidity League
20:57might seem like bad timing,
20:59but it's incredibly funny.
21:01You know, we all can't be brainy like Fern here.
21:06Cast member Gilda Radner plays Fern.
21:08Or is it Lisa?
21:10Whatever her name is, she's a few cards short of a full deck.
21:14Her friend, played by the host, tries to point this out,
21:17only to mess up the line.
21:19You're not too bright, are you, Fern?
21:21I mean, whatever your name was.
21:25Bergen can barely keep it together after that,
21:28but when Radner seemingly ad-libs a couple of references to the gaffe,
21:32she loses her cool entirely.
21:34Extremely stupid people are discriminated against all the time.
21:39And I should know, and so should Fern,
21:41because we are extremely stupid people.
21:47And it takes some time until she's able to regain her composure.
21:50We can't think of a more perfectly timed flub.
21:54Number 11, Pedro Pascal, Lisa from Temecula
21:58I guess I had two bones in my face.
22:02That is so crazy.
22:03What are the odds?
22:05Ego Wodim gave the most as Lisa from Temecula
22:08in this season 48 sketch.
22:10Her all-in commitment as the bold, no-nonsense,
22:13yet blissfully oblivious Lisa is next level.
22:17But when she starts soaring away at her extra, extra well-done steak,
22:22host Pedro Pascal can't even hide his laughter,
22:25chortling away as openly as if he was sitting in the audience.
22:29I'm about to tear this thing up.
22:32Oh my God.
22:34When I open the door,
22:38Pascal later revealed that he was set off by scene mate Bowen Yang,
22:44who apparently rarely breaks.
22:47This sketch was so ridiculously over-the-top
22:50and outrageously hilarious
22:52that even the most poker-faced person
22:54would feel compelled to at least crack a smile.

23:08To Janet's credit, it's pretty hard to watch this sketch
23:11and not crack a smile.
23:13This is where the final step in the bottling process happens,
23:17where we prepare all the corks
23:19for all the bottles of Brunello that you saw earlier.
23:22Jimmy Fallon, Horatio Sanz, and other members of the SNL cast
23:26play a group of Italian winemakers
23:28who are teaching a group of tourists about their craft.
23:31I've always actually wondered about that.
23:33How do you cork the bottles?
23:35Excellent question, Marbella.
23:37Through the sketch, they all take turns saying the words
23:40cork soaker multiple times
23:42in very thick Italian accents.
23:44We'll give you a few moments to figure out what that sounds like.
23:48I love soaking a cork.
23:50I could soak a cork all night long if they let me.
23:54I would soak two corks at once.
23:57Janet plays one of the tourists
23:59and breaks character as she's asking the winemakers
24:01how they learned to soak corks.
24:03So how did you learn to soak corks?

24:09She flops a bit, starts to giggle,
24:11and things just devolve from there.
24:14Number nine, Emily Blunt, Escorts.
24:17You'd think a star like Emily Blunt
24:19would have hosted Saturday Night Live multiple times,
24:22so you might be surprised to learn
24:24the actress only has one hosting gig under her belt so far.
24:28But I did get to improv a few little things
24:30like, you know, the part where I said,
24:32it's me, you know, that was improvised.
24:35She did a wonderful job by our standards,
24:37but there was one skit where she sort of lost her cool.
24:41In a skit called Escorts, Blunt and cast member Leslie Jones
24:45play two escorts who get very specific
24:48about what they will and will not do.
24:51I will kiss, but only with this amount of tongue.
24:56Oh, is your tongue out?
24:57Yes.
24:58Blunt mostly keeps it together
25:00through the first part of the sketch,
25:01but there's a moment towards the end
25:03where she has to fake a fall.
25:05She pops her head over the couch to say her line,
25:08but just can't stop a giggle fit from taking over.

25:15Number eight, Larry David, New Wife.
25:18Veteran comedians are known for their ability
25:20to keep character, no matter how funny the situation.
25:23So it's a wonderful but rare treat
25:26when someone like Larry David
25:28can't help but laugh at a sketch.
25:30I got married this past weekend.
25:32You did what?
25:34I met and married a wonderful woman.
25:36She's opened up a whole new world to me.
25:39David was a writer for SNL during its 10th season,
25:42and came back years later to play Bernie Sanders
25:45during season 41.
25:46But it was during one of his hosting stints
25:49that he caught a case of the giggles.
25:51In a skit called New Wife,
25:53David introduces his friends to his very young new wife,
25:56played by Cecily Strong.
25:58Yeah, you guys can come, but you gotta bring three friends,
26:01and they have to be either buff, cute, or rude.

26:07having to say ridiculous hip lingo,

27:04If we're being honest, Jason Sudeikis' accent alone
27:08would have probably made us laugh way earlier in the sketch,
27:11so kudos to Foxx for holding on as long as he did.
27:14But there's one particular quote at the end
27:17that involves the word swamp and butt,
27:20and Foxx just can't keep it in.
27:22I have to time up to Uncle Orville's airboat
27:25and drag his bare, lily-white butt across the swamp
27:30to put out that ass fire.
27:37Number six, Sean Hayes, Jeffreys
27:40Not many actors are well-known for a singular character
27:43as Sean Hayes is,
27:45but Jack from Will & Grace
27:47is one of the most indelible sitcom characters of all time.
27:50Okay, that's interesting.
27:51You'd think maybe you could have told me this,
27:53oh, I don't know, before I packed up my entire life.
27:56So it makes sense that Hayes would be given a character
27:58semi-similar to Jack on his Saturday Night Live stint in 2001.
28:03Think Jack, but a little more hipster.
28:06In this skit, Hayes and Jimmy Fallon
28:08play a couple of sales clerks at a store called Jeffreys
28:12who mock and belittle every customer who comes in.
28:15What?
28:16This is a genuine Looney Tunes jacket.
28:25Wow, I didn't know Joey Bonifuco had a garage sale.
28:28Hayes mostly keeps it together during the skit,
28:30but when Will Ferrell rolls in on a motorized scooter,
28:34well, that's the end of Hayes' straight face.
28:37We're going to the Dolce & Gabbana show.
28:39How fast could you have your bags packed from there on?
28:46And once again, we get a veteran comedian
28:48who can't quite keep it together.
28:50But to Kevin Hart's credit, this Barnes & Noble sketch
28:53is one of the funniest the show has produced in its later years.
28:57Hart plays a manager at a Barnes & Noble store
29:00who has to fire one of his employees.
29:02Unfortunately, I'm going to have to let somebody go today.
29:04Yeah, right!
29:05Oh, what?
29:06We know who you think it's us!
29:08Yeah, you nerds hate us because we work in a cafe!
29:11Thinking they're on the chopping block,
29:13Cecily Strong and Bobby Moynihan
29:15begin insulting their co-workers within an inch of their lives.

29:28These two are hilarious.
29:30But Tim Robinson is who finally gets Hart to crack.
29:34During one of Hart's lines,
29:35Robinson pops up behind him without warning,
29:38causing him to break character and let out a quick laugh.
29:41I would never fire any person in this room except Carl!
29:45Oh, no!
29:46Except for Carl!
29:48Reason being, he's old, he's useless,
29:50he's just that good to me!

29:56Number four, Billie Eilish.
29:58Hotel ad.
29:59When a host doesn't have a lot of comedy chops under their belt,
30:02it's easy to see why some of the skits
30:04that Saturday Night Live writers come up with
30:07might throw them off their game.
30:09So is the case for Billie Eilish,
30:11who hosted the show in 2021
30:13and did surprisingly well for a first-time host,
30:16especially one so young.
30:18Our rooms provide every comfort required by law.

30:25Phone that blinks.
30:27One of her best skits was Hotel Ad,
30:29in which Eilish lent her impeccable monotone voice
30:32to a very strange and off-putting commercial for a hotel.

30:39but be warned, she's having a hard month every month.
30:43But unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you look at it,
30:47Eilish couldn't hold that deadpan tone for long,
30:50especially not next to the very hilarious Kate McKinnon.
30:54Situated between the DMV and a darkened Sonic,
30:57it's the location that will make your Uber driver say,

31:09Well, you guys, Disney World really is fun.

31:13I mean, the time before my two-year stint at Children's.
31:16This sketch is anything but a downer.
31:19Indeed, taking Rachel Dratch's iconic recurring character
31:22to the happiest place on Earth was a stroke of genius,
31:26although even Pluto walks away from her with his tail between his legs.
31:30That cost him one. He's probably in the early stages of heat stroke.
31:37Nevertheless, as they say, misery loves company,
31:41and Debbie's misery is such a crowd-pleaser
31:44that she soon breaks everyone.
31:46Credit to Lohan, though, who holds out longer than most of her scene mates.
31:50However, eventually, even she gets caught up in the hilarity and loses it.
31:54You are totally ruining my trip to Texas.
31:58I didn't say a word during It's a Small World when you talked about low birth weight,
32:02or during the fireworks when you went over...
32:04when you went about about feline AIDS.
32:06The actress later told Vogue that she quickly left the set
32:10as she was worried she'd get in trouble for laughing.
32:17While the subject matter is somewhat sketchy,
32:20this skit is primarily remembered for Adele's infectious laughter.
32:24You're gonna want that coconut water.
32:30Last night, I saw the face of God.
32:35She plays a divorcee discovering the continent of Africa
32:39alongside cast members Kate McKinnon and Heidi Gardner.
32:43As any SNL fan knows, keeping a straight face while sharing the screen with McKinnon
32:48is very hard.
32:50And for sure, the comedian comes close to breaking the singer numerous times.
32:54It starts with a sly smile and a slight chuckle here and there.
32:58But it's Gardner who delivers the double entendre
33:01that leaves Adele doubled over and laughing out loud.
33:05The rhythm, the drums, the pounding.
33:12The fanning yourself with a pom between rounds.
33:15It was the breakout sketch of the night.
33:17Now that's some powerful laughter.

33:49When you make Ryan Gosling break character this badly,
33:52the only choice is to do it again.
33:54And that's exactly what Saturday Night Live did.
33:57Yes, you three experienced the first verified case of alien abduction,
34:01so naturally you are of great interest to the United States government.
34:04When Ryan Gosling first appeared in the Close Encounter sketch,
34:08there was no way we could have known just how iconic this appearance would come to be.
34:12The sketch portrays three people who are abducted by aliens
34:16and asked to tell the government about their experience,
34:19and marks another instance of Kate McKinnon making people absolutely lose it.
34:34As soon as she gets going, Gosling is absolutely down for the count.
34:38He tries to hide behind his hand, but nothing can hide that smile.
34:46Till the place open up.
34:50Gosling later replies the sketch, but nothing is as good as the original.
