00:00Well done for today, for the third year into the quarter-finals at Roland Garros.
00:08What were you most proud of, of your performance today?
00:12Well, I'm really happy to be back in the quarter-finals here in Roland Garros.
00:17I think this is a special tournament for me, that you always want to go far in this tournament
00:26and yeah, I'm really happy with the performance in general.
00:30I think I moved well, tactically it was a really good match for me and yeah, it was
00:41an up and down in the match, that is something that I'm really working on every day, so I'm
00:46really proud of this.
00:49Hi Carlos, well done.
00:55You said on the court that you had the key to Stefanos and I was curious what you meant
01:03by that.
01:04Is that because you obviously beat him here last year or if you could just explain what
01:11that means?
01:13Well, he didn't beat me yet, so the matches that we've played, I won all of them, so that's
01:30what I wanted to mean when I said that they have the key against him, because I finished
01:36five or six zero, but it doesn't mean that I have to play at my 50%, so I know that Stefanos
01:47is playing great, but I know tactically what I have to do in the match, which I'm not going
01:56to say, that's obviously, but I know what I have to do in the match.
02:03Hi, congratulations.
02:06I just wanted to ask you about Novak, you played him here last year, obviously, and
02:11I just wanted to ask what makes him such a tough player on this surface?
02:15We know about him on hard courts, but also on clay, he's won three Ronald Garros, so
02:18yeah, what's so tough about him on this surface?
02:22Well, he's really tough on every surface, but here on clay he puts so much pressure
02:30on you in every point, so in every point, the first point until the last one, you have
02:42to play long rallies, like seven, eight, nine balls every rally at your 100%, at your best
02:54level, and for him it is normal, but most of the players are really demanding matches,
03:06so I think for most of the players it is really difficult to stay at this high level of tennis,
03:19really high level of intensity, mental part is a really important part as well, so I remember
03:28last year that I couldn't finish the match at my 100% because in just two sets I was
03:39down of intensity, I couldn't stay at the 100%, and for him it was normal, so I'm going
03:49to say that's the most difficult part of facing normal here on this surface.
03:53A few days ago you talked about changing your service motion, I'm just curious, what did
04:02you hope to improve in your serve with the changes, and how are you feeling about the
04:06shot now in general?
04:09Well, different conditions, I mean the previous matches I was playing with Daruf, it's a totally
04:16different match for me, without Daruf the ball bounces much more, the ball doesn't become
04:30bigger, so it's a few things that change a lot of the match, so for me it's better to
04:38play without Daruf, I'm not going to lie, and my game is getting better and better,
04:43my confidence is getting higher, every practice that I'm doing or every day that I'm here
04:53in Rangarosa I'm feeling better and better, so I think that's a really important part
04:56for me to the next round, I need that confidence against Stefanos.
05:04Khaleitos, you said on court that Novak started too late, you've been part of a lot of late
05:10night matches, what does it do to your recovery and how can that be changed with the schedules
05:15in the sport?
05:16Well for me, I don't like night sessions, but not for the crowd, I think the crowd in
05:25night sessions is special, but we end so late, press conference, physio, ice bath, we have
05:36to do a lot of things that are really important things to recover for the next matches, it's
05:46not only the last ball, we have a lot of important things to do, and Novak I'm sure he went to
05:56go to sleep at 6am and the last point finished at 3pm, something like that, three hours between
06:07the last point until he went to go to sleep, so it's really difficult to recover when you
06:14go to sleep so late, so for me it's much better to finish at 6pm, having dinner really well
06:26at a good restaurant, good food, so everything is better if you finish early, but the night
06:37session it's a real thing so we can't change it, but we have to adapt ourselves as much
06:46or as better as we can to those matches.
