A 5ft 10ins woman who towers over her short husband says trolls say he looks like her son but they couldn’t be more in love.
Cassandra Gaspard, 29, and her partner, Westin, 32, are constantly stared at due to their height difference.
Cassandra is five inches taller than Westin - who is 5ft 5ins - and is asked why she is with her husband by strangers.
But the couple couldn’t be happier, after tying the knot last month, and have never seen their height difference as a problem.
Westin, a technical account manager, from New York City, US, said: “In real life people don’t come up to me. They come up to my wife.
“They said ‘how can you be with him? He’s so short.'
“People stare at us – it happens a lot.
“Trolls say I look like her handbag or I’m her son. They are trying to be funny.”
Cassandra, who works in customer care, said: “It’s a little odd that people look at height difference and think we don’t deserve to be in a relationship.
“It’s not the norm – society thinks 6ft men need to be with shorter men.
“You love who you love.”
Casandra had embraced her height by the time she met Westin on Tinder in 2017 – and even wore five inch heels on their first date.
She said: “I grew up taller than everybody. I was the odd ball out.
“I accepted in my 20s that I couldn’t change.
“Now I’m mostly in heels.”
Westin had never had any issues with his height or dating girls taller than him.
He said: “My height is what it is. I can’t stretch myself.
“I always carried myself in a confident way.
“When I met my wife I said ‘you’re tall and there is nothing you can do about it. And I’m small and there is nothing I can do about it’.
“We never cared about it.
“It’s a blessing. If something is up on a shelf and I can’t get it. Guess who I’m calling? My wife.”
Despite their confidence, the couple did have to adjust to the constant stares and comments.
Cassandra said: “I remember the very first time someone said something.
“These two or three older men were looking at us.
“They said ‘she’s really tall, he’s really short – I can’t believe it’.”
Westin says he also gets comments asking if he has 'short man syndrome'.
He said: “Someone said 'I hope he doesn’t have a temper'.
“Short men get a bad rep and they think I have short man syndrome.
“People could be missing out on a life partner because of all these preconceived notions.
“It’s silly stuff like women can’t be with a man shorter than her. They want someone to look up to and protect them.
“I’m a boxer – I can protect my wife.
“It doesn’t have anything to do with my height.”
Cassandra added: “There are tall women married to short men.
“It’s not like OMG I just found a rare coin.”
Westin said: “Love is love no matter what.”

00:31How do you feel about being married to a tall woman?
00:34I feel multiple.
00:36And honestly, you guys are making this a very big deal.
00:39I just want to say that when I view my wife, I don't view her like this tall woman.
00:43Is she tall? Yes, we get it.
00:46You can see it, you know what I'm saying?
00:47But I don't view her that way.
00:49I view her as a beautiful woman above anything else.
00:52And that's just that.
00:53And also, I want to quickly address this really, like really quickly.
00:57For the people that keep saying this mother and son comment.
01:00Can y'all please like literally just go to hell?
01:03And I'm a very confident woman.
01:04So I really don't care about his height.
01:06I never cared.
01:07Our first date, I had on five inch heels.
01:09Did not give a **** about it.
01:11I'm tall. I can't change it.
01:14He's short. I'm short.
01:15We can't change that.
01:17And it is what it is.
01:18I'm short, but I look good though.
01:20See?
01:21Period.
01:22I was going to address the negative comments, but I'm not going to address it because
01:25all I want is positivity and light.
01:27And all the positive **** outweigh the negative ****.
01:29So that's all that matters.
01:31But, yeah.
01:33Thank you guys.
01:34For the people that have been showing love, I appreciate you.
01:36God bless you.
01:37And that is it.
