00:00 So, as ever, it's been a very busy week in the city of Bristol, so can you tell us what
00:07 is the top news story in the city this week?
00:09 Well, a busy Bristol petrol station and shop on a major road is set to close for a few
00:17 months, for months. The Tesco Esso Express on Wells Road in Whitchurch is set to close
00:26 on June 29 for refurbishment, whilst the petrol pumps and forecourt are being upgraded. The
00:35 work could take up to 16 weeks and staff will be deployed to other sites while it is in
00:41 place. The closures are also likely to affect people heading to Glastonbury Festival for
00:49 the weekend of June 29 and 30, who are hoping to refuel on the way.
00:54 Thank you, Adriana. So we will see how that one pans out. So, shall we move on to our
00:59 second hot news story this week? Tell me about that.
01:02 Well, work is set to start to build new homes and a small supermarket on the site of the
01:11 former 1930s cinema in South Bristol at the end of the month. The site was the home of
01:18 an art decor cinema from 1938, before it closed as a bingo hall in the early 1990s, with two
01:27 ground floor retail units, the larger of which will be suitable for a small supermarket.
01:35 The work is expected to continue until the end of 2025.
01:38 Thank you. So, shall we move on to our final top news story in the city this week? Tell
01:44 me about that.
01:45 Well, a new beef eater is set to open its doors in Bristol Stoke Guildford later this
01:52 month. The Guildford will be opening on June 17 near the Filton Retail Park.
