00:03Welcome to WatchMojo,
00:05and today we're counting down our picks for the Top 10 Times Superheroes Went God Mode.
00:12That must be super disappointing as a dragon.
00:16For this list, we'll be looking at the moments in film
00:18when superhero characters obtain or display incredible powers or skills.
00:24Since many of these involve important plot points,
00:27there will be spoilers ahead.
00:29Number 10. Shazam vs. Layton
00:32Shazam, Fury of the Gods
00:34Billy Batson already got a pretty divine gift when he received the powers of the wizard Shazam.
00:40How many teenagers would kill to get the strength of Hercules,
00:44speed of Mercury, and the lightning of Zeus?
00:48Inherited from literal gods, his superpowers come to full fruition
00:52in this climactic battle against the mythical dragon Layton.
00:56It's no small feat to give this fiery beast a knuckle sandwich.
01:06But Shazam manages to go toe-to-claw with the great Leviathan at every turn.
01:11He's even tough enough to tunnel his way through a column of flame breath.
01:15Number 9. Captain Marvel Embraces Her Full Power
01:20Shazam!
01:24The battle ultimately requires Shazam's sacrifice.
01:28But his courage and selflessness move a dying Hespera to properly dub him a true god.
01:34A true god, after all.
01:37We couldn't agree more.
01:39Number 9. Captain Marvel Embraces Her Full Power
01:43Captain Marvel
01:44When we meet Carol Danvers in Endgame,
01:47she's already goddess enough to rescue the great Tony Stark from the void of space.
01:52But it's the moment when she first tapped into those powers that truly unleashed her might.
01:58With her potential suppressed by Kree technology,
02:01she wisely turns to her inner strength to break free.
02:05Carol draws from her painful memories of hardships and defeats,
02:09using them as motivation to remove the alien inhibitor and harness extraordinary cosmic energy.
02:16I'm finally set free.
02:20The fear in her enemy's eyes only foreshadows the subsequent interplanetary beatdown that she administers.
02:31By transforming the phrase only human from an insult to an incentive,
02:36Captain Marvel achieves otherworldly resilience
02:39that brings her about as close to god status as mortals can get.
02:48Number 8. The Guardians Hold The Power Stone – Guardians Of The Galaxy
02:53Turns out using his latent god powers wasn't even the most power Star-Lord ever wielded.
02:58The finale of the first Guardians film sees Peter Quill distracting the villain Ronin
03:03with a would-be dance-off long enough for his friends to separate the Kree warlord from the Power Stone,
03:09one of the Infinity Stones.
03:11What are you doing?
03:14I'm distracting you, you big turd blossom.
03:16Quill leaps to catch it, but soon regrets it,
03:19since it proves extremely potent, flaking away parts of his body.
03:23But as Ronin gloats, Quill's friends hold onto him, spreading the power between them.
03:29As it stabilizes, the newly minted Guardians of the Galaxy use the energy to vaporize Ronin and save the galaxy.
03:36We're the Guardians of the Galaxy.
03:46Can you imagine how powerful it would have been if they danced?
03:50Number 7. Wonder Woman Crosses No Man's Land – Wonder Woman
03:56Diana of Themyscira is powerful, even by the standards of her warrior people.
04:01Being a demigoddess will do that.
04:03Even so, it isn't until she finds herself in the middle of one of the worst wars in history
04:08that we get to see the true extent of her power.
04:10This is No Man's Land, Diana.
04:13No man can cross it, alright?
04:15This battalion has been here for nearly a year and they barely gained an inch.
04:20Diana and her friends need to get across No Man's Land in the middle of trench warfare.
04:25And while everyone around her insists it's impossible to cross,
04:29Diana climbs out of the trench and charges across the field.
04:33As she takes all the fire, Diana manages to block automatic weapons and perform incredible leaps.
04:42With such a remarkable display, it's no wonder her friends and the allied troops are inspired to follow her.
04:49Number 6. Quicksilver's Kitchen – X-Men Days of Future Past
04:54Breaking your superhuman buddy out of a secured government facility?
04:59Who better to call than Peter Maximoff?
05:01When Charles Xavier and his gang are face-to-face with armed guards,
05:06Quicksilver wastes no nanoseconds to save the day.
05:18With his ultra-human speed, Peter darts about the kitchen, redirecting bullets and fists in his favor.
05:24The whole thing looks like slow motion to us,
05:27and neither the guards nor the X-Men even know what hits or almost hits them.
05:36He's even got time to sample some displaced air soup and rock out to Jim Croce.
05:41Quicksilver pulls off some similar moves to Sweet Dreams and X-Men Apocalypse.
05:47But this is the one that really has him running literal circles around everyone else.
05:53Number 5. Thor – God of Thunder – Thor Ragnarok
05:58Thor faces a lot of challenges in his third solo movie,
06:01but easily the biggest is his sister Hela, the Goddess of Death.
06:05No one's going anywhere. I'll get that sword, even if I have to kill every single one of them to do it.
06:10When she cuts out Thor's eye and sets her minions against the fleeing people of Asgard, things look dire.
06:16However, a vision of Thor's father Odin reminds Thor that his lost hammer Mjolnir
06:20was merely a way for him to focus his powers, not the source of it.
06:24That hammer was to help you control your power, to focus it. It was never your source of strength.
06:30He descends from the sky in a bolt of lightning, fighting through waves of Hela's soldiers.
06:35They don't stand a chance against the God of Thunder.
06:37It makes for one awesome sequence, and feels even more divine thanks to the help from Led Zeppelin.
06:44Number 4. Flash runs back in time. Zack Snyder's Justice League.
06:54Barry Allen, aka The Flash, may be the fastest man alive,
06:58but sometimes he's not fast enough to save everyone.
07:02Such is the case when the Justice League fails to prevent Steppenwolf's plan
07:06to terraform Earth with the Mother Boxes, and they all die in an explosion.
07:15Or so it would seem. As the shockwave approaches him, Barry enters the Speed Force.
07:23This allows him to run faster than light, effectively turning back time,
07:28as his footsteps effectively create a new future as he runs to the past.
07:32By supercharging Cyborg, Flash helps prevent the explosion, saving the Justice League and the world.
07:38And when you're powerful enough to save heroes of their caliber, that's quite impressive.
07:43The kid was one of them, Dad. One of the best of the best.
07:50Number 3. Star-Lord uses his celestial powers. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
07:57Peter Quill's reunion with his father starts off well, albeit in a weird way.
08:02His dad, Ego, is a celestial, a god-like alien being the size of a planet, after all.
08:08Everything is me.
08:13But revelations about Ego's plan to expand his influence across the galaxy,
08:18as well as the fact that he killed Peter's mother, sour things between them significantly.
08:23I know that sounds bad.
08:30While his friends work to set a bomb that will kill Ego,
08:33Quill awakens his own celestial abilities to distract them.
08:36You shouldn't have killed my mom and squished my Walkman.
08:39Their clash sees the two using their abilities to literally reshape the world around them
08:44in powerful and occasionally funny ways.
08:55It makes for a crazy fight scene and features Quill at his strongest,
08:58although his dance moves are also pretty powerful.
09:01Drax thinks you're not a dancer.
09:04If you ever tell anyone about this, I will kill you.
09:082. Cap wields Mjolnir
09:12Avengers Endgame
09:14Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.
09:19Fans had long suspected that Steve Rogers, Captain America himself,
09:23would be able to wield Thor's hammer.
09:25So when Thanos is about to kill Thor during the final battle
09:28and Mjolnir flies through the air back into Cap's hand,
09:32we all lost our minds.
09:42Cap is not only able to throw the hammer and call it back to him,
09:45he is also able to summon lightning,
09:47which he uses in a fantastically awesome series of attacks against Thanos.
09:53This is Steve Rogers, the formerly skinny kid from Brooklyn,
09:57wielding the power of a god.

10:171. Cap wields Mjolnir
10:211. I Am Iron Man Avengers Endgame
10:26We don't usually do multiple entries from one film, but come on.
10:30This movie is so epic and there are so many moments to choose from,
10:34like Wanda's revenge on Thanos.
10:37You took everything from me.
10:40I don't even know who you are.
10:43You will.
10:44Iron Man's final stand sees him use sleight of hand and nanites
10:48to steal the Infinity Stones from Thanos.
10:51He then uses the stones, at the cost of his life,
10:54to defeat Thanos and his armies.
10:56And sure, technically when Thanos snaps, it's more powerful,
11:00since he dusts half the universe.
11:02You should have gone for the head.
11:09But while we're tempted to choose that moment instead,
11:12ultimately Tony Stark's iconic final act felt more worthy of celebration.
11:17He looks cooler doing it for one.
11:19Plus Thanos is already practically a demigod,
11:22while Tony is just a man.
11:24Iron Man.
11:25And I...
11:28am...
11:33Iron Man.
11:35Which of these entries is the best example of truly going God Mode?
