00:00Welcome to TMZ sports I'm Mike
00:07Babcock with my guy as always
00:09Mojo Muhtari Mojo the NBA
00:11finals kicked off tonight
00:13Mavericks Celtics doing their
00:15thing.
00:16We're going to start with a guy
00:18who actually played for both of
00:20those organizations and
00:21unfortunately this is not a
00:24happy story.
00:25You're obviously looking at
00:26Delonte West Delonte West Mojo
00:29who we know has struggled with
00:31abuse with drug abuse issues and
00:33with criminal issues in the past
00:35was arrested early this morning
00:38at about four thirty in the
00:39morning in Fairfax Virginia on
00:43two misdemeanor charges.
00:45But this situation is far more
00:48serious.
00:49There is the mugshot Mojo and I
00:51mean you want to talk about an
00:53alarming photo.
00:55That's it right there.
00:56That was again taken early this
00:59morning Delonte West at the
01:01local jail in Fairfax County.
01:03Let's talk about Mojo what
01:05happened during the arrest
01:06though because this could have
01:08been far worse and this could be
01:10a very different conversation
01:12than the one that we're having
01:14right here today because Mojo
01:15when police made contact with
01:18Delonte West early this morning
01:20they were trying to serve a
01:21warrant.
01:23He ran he fled according to
01:25police.
01:25Now police gave chase.
01:27They actually momentarily lost
01:30Delonte West.
01:31They didn't know where he went.
01:32So they go looking around Mojo
01:35they find him unresponsive
01:38essentially unconscious on the
01:40ground.
01:41Now they suspect that he might
01:44be having some sort of overdose
01:47so they administer Narcan now
01:49Narcan is that emergency nasal
01:51pump that is used in opioid
01:54overdoses and it essentially
01:56reverses the effects of the very
01:58powerful pain medication and it
02:00can snap you right back to
02:02consciousness.
02:03Well they administer a dose of
02:05Narcan and it has no effect.
02:08They have the ambulance rush
02:09over.
02:10They arrive.
02:12They bring Delonte to the
02:13hospital.
02:14He's given another dose of
02:16Narcan and thankfully that
02:19worked.
02:20They got the desired effects and
02:22he was back conscious.
02:24Ultimately he is released.
02:25He's discharged from the
02:27hospital Mojo but he obviously
02:28doesn't get to go home.
02:29He's then kicked over back to
02:31the jail where he now sits as we
02:34sit here and take the show in
02:35the afternoon.
02:37He has a two thousand dollars
02:39bond.
02:39If he posts that he will be
02:41released.
02:42Unclear what his financial
02:43situation is here though.
02:45We're looking at the two charges
02:46violating conditions of releases
02:48the one misdemeanor the second
02:49misdemeanor being the resisting
02:51arrest for him running away.
02:53Scary scary stuff.
02:55Yeah.
02:55Given the track record these
02:57charges are a bad thing but this
03:00is nowhere to the extent of his
03:04health mental health issues
03:06going on right now.
03:07I mean a couple of misdemeanor
03:08charges not ideal but not the
03:11biggest problem in the world.
03:12Right.
03:13But this is just a recurring
03:15issue and it's extremely sad to
03:18see the fall from grace.
03:19Right.
03:19A guy that was killing it in the
03:21NBA.
03:22Unbelievable.
03:24Athlete and talent that's been
03:26reduced all the way down to
03:27this.
03:28I mean you know I feel like it's
03:30almost every three to six months
03:32that we're having a conversation
03:34about Delonte West in some
03:36capacity.
03:36I hate to say it it's almost
03:38never anything positive or
03:40neutral.
03:41It's always something bad and
03:44you know that sucks and that
03:45just goes to show you what life
03:47as an addict is like right.
03:49I mean you've seen people in the
03:50past try to help him teammates
03:52Mark Cuban himself trying to
03:55help him eventually maybe from
03:57an employment aspect whatever it
03:59is and maybe it helps for a
04:01little bit and then he's back
04:03you know off the wagon here not
04:05too far in the distant future
04:07and you know he just needs
04:08somebody that's going to be able
04:10to help him out and be there for
04:11him day in and day out.
04:13Yeah I think you're right Mojo
04:15and in a way you almost feel
04:17like he's probably a lot safer
04:19in jail and if that's what it
04:22takes to get him clean maybe
04:23that's the best thing for
04:24Delonte West.
