00:00Welcome to TMZ Sports, I'm Mike Babcock with my guy, as always, Mojo Totti, as the chain
00:12says.
00:13Mojo, we're gonna start with a big story that we broke earlier this morning on the TMZ Sports
00:18website.
00:19Former Pro Bowl quarterback Jay Cutler was arrested yesterday late afternoon, yeah, afternoon,
00:27we'll get into that in a second, for DUI and gun possession, Mojo.
00:32So let's get into some of the details here.
00:36So Jay Cutler, who, of course, was a, again, a Pro Bowl quarterback, played for the Broncos,
00:42the Bears, and the Dolphins, was a prolific passer, was driving, Mojo, the police say,
00:48a white pickup truck, a Chevy pickup truck, yesterday in Franklin, Tennessee, around 5
00:56when he is said to have rear-ended another blue truck.
01:00Now, both guys get out of the car, and Jay then allegedly, Mojo, and keep in mind, cop's
01:07not yet on the scene, says to the other guy, the other driver, whom he allegedly hit, hey,
01:13I'll give you $2,000, let's keep this out of, let's keep this away from the cops, let's
01:19not call the police.
01:20Well, the guy says, you know, hey, my back's hurting a bit, I think the cops should respond.
01:25So he denies Jay's request, his offer, and they call the police.
01:29Now, when the police get to the scene, Mojo, they see that Jay is, in their minds, under
01:35the influence of alcohol.
01:37They say he reeks of booze, his eyes are bloodshot, and he is unsteady on his feet.
01:44So they ask him how many drinks he's had, and they say that Jay denies having any alcohol
01:50at all.
01:51They don't believe him.
01:52Do you take a field sobriety test?
01:54They try and get Jay to do it.
01:56He says no, Mojo.
01:57So at that point, they place him under arrest.
02:00They actually got a warrant from a judge to take Jay to the hospital and draw blood.
02:06They draw blood.
02:07We don't yet have those results, but whatever they saw led the police to believe that he
02:12was under the influence.
02:13They arrest him for DUI.
02:16But that's not the only charges because he said he wouldn't take the field sobriety test.
02:21That also is a charge.
02:24So he's hit with that as well.
02:25And then, Mojo, there is a gun possession charge.
02:29Now, it's not that in Tennessee he is not allowed to have a weapon.
02:33He is, but you cannot have a weapon with you if you're under the influence.
02:37And of course, cops say that he was drunk.
02:39They found a rifle and a Glock handgun in his white pickup truck.
02:45So four charges, Mojo.
02:47He's got a court date coming up here in a couple of months, obviously not a good look
02:52for Jay Cutler.
02:53And a lot of people have talked about the fact that this happened again at 5 p.m.
02:57And you say to yourself, why would he be super drunk that early in the day?
03:02You should never drink and drive.
03:04But just another aspect of this story.
03:065 p.m.
03:07I mean, shoot, I guess if you're an adult and you want to go out drinking whenever you
03:12feel like it.
03:13If it's 7 a.m., if it's 2 a.m., I mean, whatever, I guess that's your decision.
03:19But driving afterwards, come on, man, you know how much we condemn DUIs on this show.
03:25How much money did you make in your career that you can't afford an Uber, a private chauffeur,
03:34you know, whatever it might be?
03:35There are so many ways to get easy transportation, especially when you got all the funds in your
03:43bank account.
03:44I'm not surprised he didn't want to take the field sobriety test if he knew he had been
03:48drinking.
03:49I guess they were going to find out either way, and they absolutely did.
03:52So, you know, at that point, now you just added another charge to the list.
03:57So maybe you should have just done it regardless of if you wanted to or not.
04:01Right.
04:02Kind of interesting that he offered the guy $2,000 to just walk away from the incident
04:08and and let it be.
04:10I mean, if that guy would have said yes, maybe none of this, we wouldn't be talking
04:15about any of this.
04:16He probably would be, you know, home, you know, hopefully safe and sound.
04:20But when you're drinking, you never know.
04:21That's the whole point is you never know.
04:23But you hate to see stuff like this.
04:25And now look at all these charges that came out of this.
04:29This situation was made so much worse.
04:31Now you have a gun possession charge on top of it because you've been drinking, obviously
04:36refusing the field sobriety test.
04:38These charges are starting to stack up.
04:40I mean, for these, I don't see Jay doing time for a very long time.
04:46But there are absolutely going to be serious consequences for this.
04:50And again, it's a multiplier effect.
04:52The next time something happens, now you got this on your record as well.
04:55It's not a good look.
04:56No.
04:57And it's a good point, Mojo.
04:58And whatever.
04:59And it's obviously not a money thing.
05:00I don't think like you said, Jay made north of one hundred million dollars.
05:04He had his inside the NFL gig last year.
05:06He's got a podcast.
05:07The guy has made a ton of money and he ends up having to pay five thousand dollars bond
05:12just to get out.
05:13I obviously promise you an Uber or Lyft would have been a whole lot cheaper, even more important
05:20than the money is the danger that you pose to yourself and more importantly, to other
05:24people when you allegedly drive drunk.
05:26So a bad look for Jay Cutler.
05:29We will see what happens.
05:30It's obviously a case we will continue to follow.
