00:10 All right, Zephyr's Street Pizza, West Hartford.
00:23 Yeah, they got sandwiches in there, a little bump of pastrami as he called it.
00:27 I'll try that after.
00:28 He's not the biggest pastrami guy, but that looks good.
00:31 So, a lot of pressure on me, cuz he was getting emotional in there.
00:36 He's like, this is the right time, I got a family, I'm grinding, three years.
00:40 >> I'll try not to get too emotional, but
00:41 I mean, you're coming at a good time for us, so.
00:44 >> Yeah.
00:45 >> What's that all about?
00:49 >> I mean, I know this shit's gonna be on the internet.
00:52 >> Well, that's why.
00:53 >> Zoom it out.
00:54 >> Zoom it out.
00:54 >> All right, yeah.
00:55 >> Zoom it the fuck out.
00:56 >> Stop crying, get the views going.
00:57 >> So, all right, well, so here's the deal.
01:01 I'm fucking here right now, I got kids and shit.
01:05 This is my third restaurant, the first one I owned by myself.
01:09 It's just been hard, man, it's tough.
01:14 >> The brutal industry.
01:15 >> Yeah, so.
01:16 >> Good, well, hopefully- >> It's been a good summer so far.
01:20 This has been a really good summer for us.
01:23 And if I could have picked you up and dropped you in the perfect time to
01:27 ride this, it would be right now for just so many reasons.
01:31 >> Well, I hope to God I like it.
01:32 >> This is a rock and roll.
01:33 >> I mean, no pressure.
01:35 >> Starting to meet no pussy on the internet.
01:36 >> Yeah, yeah.
01:37 >> That's what's happening.
01:38 >> He's also double pressure because he's buddies with a guy at Mondo who I gave
01:42 a big score to, and Camille, who I guess I didn't give as big a score, but
01:46 small community because that's the same people as Oakland who I did really like.
01:50 >> I know, you've been to a couple of my friends' spots, so
01:54 there's a lot of competition amongst me and my friends.
01:56 >> Pressure, so have I given any big scores to any of your friends?
02:00 >> So Keith was my best man, have you ever heard of Mondo Middletown?
02:04 >> That's what you were saying, Mondo's great.
02:05 >> And you just banked him like an 8-1, so I'm like-
02:08 >> Mondo's great, I love Mondo.
02:10 >> You were at my buddy Dave's, Camille's.
02:13 >> Half an hour ago.
02:14 >> Some of those guys were greensmen.
02:16 And we all worked together back in the day at a pizza joint.
02:18 >> Yeah, so there's a little- >> There's a bragging right there.
02:20 >> You know what I mean?
02:20 So I thought it was okay when I seen that Camille score.
02:23 Wood fired, super light, generally some flop, 7-7.
02:27 >> And then Keith came in with the 8-1, I'm like, fuck.
02:29 >> Now having said that, this pizza looks, I don't wanna say 100% up my alley,
02:36 but pretty up my alley, like a well done vibe to it, zero flop.
02:41 I mean, that is zero flop.
02:42 I asked him, where does it name Street Pizza?
02:45 I was like, I don't know, is that a type of style?
02:47 He's like, no, it's supposed to be a food truck.
02:49 This place became available, kind of a cute story.
02:52 He met his wife when his wife worked here, so they teamed up, re-bought it.
02:56 What is Street Pizza?
02:57 >> So the definition of street food is anything small that comes off a truck.
03:01 >> Okay. >> So the original concept was gonna be
03:03 slices, like small things off a food truck.
03:05 >> Got it. >> Long story short,
03:07 I'm the fourth pizza place here in like six years.
03:10 My wife worked here back in the day.
03:12 I met her when she worked here.
03:13 We had kind of an affection for this location, and it came available.
03:17 I fucking scraped up, beg bar and stole, got in here.
03:21 Here we are. >> Cool story.
03:21 >> So everything about this guy, good story, good vibes.
03:25 And he put pressure on me, like this would determine the rest of his life.
03:28 So yeah, there's pressure.
03:29 I'm not a jerk anymore.
03:30 Never was a jerk, but I want everyone to be a big, happy family.
03:35 One bite, everyone knows it was very hot.
03:37 So hot, I'm gonna filibuster.
03:40 All right, here we go.
03:41 No ads, no.
03:42 [BLANK_AUDIO]
03:52 Wow.
03:53 [BLANK_AUDIO]
04:03 This is a morph of a New Haven.
04:07 It is.
04:08 Like he's using the same style undercarriage, super crispy.
04:12 [BLANK_AUDIO]
04:22 Wow.
04:23 I'm not gonna settle this debate for him with him and Mondo,
04:31 because I think I'm giving an identical score.
04:33 So they can argue about it when they're having beers and they're old and
04:37 gray and just walk around and walk.
04:40 It's like who had the bigger score?
04:41 I'm going eight one again.
04:43 It's an eight one pie.
04:45 Anytime you have this type of crunch and crisp, I'm gonna love it.
04:50 My only criticism, a little tighter, meaning like he's got the grondo cheese in there.
04:54 And I feel like a New Haven's a little just tighter, but
04:57 this is still really great, obviously.
04:59 I gave it an eight one.
05:00 So Zephyr's Street Pizza, West Haven, who maybe is the biggest winner of this whole,
05:05 no, West Hartford, maybe the biggest winner of this whole trip so far.
05:10 Cuz I think it's like a cutesy town, like I live in West Hartford.
05:14 Which, gun ahead, I would have said shoot me before we started this trip.
05:18 But now, I'm like, no, nice place.
05:19 Two good pizza spots too.
05:21 Zephyr's Street Pizza, 8.1, the debate will rage on between this and Mondo forever.
05:26 There you go, that's your review.
05:27 People are clapping.
05:28 >> [APPLAUSE] >> Love that, love, love.
05:31 Look at the UPS guy clapping.
05:34 >> We gotta get a picture.
05:35 >> We didn't solve anything.
05:36 >> What do you mean?
05:37 >> Your debate with Mondo.
05:39 >> You didn't solve anything?
05:40 So what does that mean?
05:42 Tie-ish?
05:43 >> Yes, yeah.
05:45 >> Tie-ish plus?
05:46 >> Tie-ish.
05:48 >> [LAUGH] >> Richard, you think it fits you?
05:51 >> You love it.
05:52 >> I'll do a tie, I'll be good with a tie.
05:56 All right, get out of here, dude.
05:57 >> It's just like you made an itch, right on the bottom.
05:59 >> I'm trying to do like a hybrid.
06:02 >> Yeah, that's what it felt like.
06:02 >> It's a great thing, you know what I mean?
06:05 >> That's what it felt like.
06:05 >> Doing my best to be different instead of fucking saturated.
06:07 >> Yeah, yeah, of course.
06:09 >> Don't ever get.
06:11 >> Don't piss him off unless he already did the rating.
06:13 >> Weak.
06:13 >> He did the rating.
06:14 >> All right, I won't get weak.
06:16 I like that, that's a great pep talk.
06:18 >> Yeah, of course.
06:18 >> Nice to meet you guys.
06:19 >> Yeah, cheers, man.
06:19 >> My boys would be so excited to see this.
06:22 >> I like, she gave me a pep talk, don't ever get weak.
06:25 I may start selling those shirts, don't ever get weak.
06:27 >> Hey, Dave, these guys watch you all the time.
06:29 >> Yeah, sure.
06:30 >> This is our favorite pizza place.
06:32 Can I get a picture with you?
06:33 Thank you, I appreciate it.
06:35 >> Thanks, yeah, let's do it.
06:36 >> I'm a super fan, I'm subscribed.
06:38 I watch you every night, I re-watch you.
06:39 I'm so, dude, I'm so, you were at Savoy.
06:42 I found out, I just missed you.
06:44 I literally, I got a phone call, I ran all the way over here.
06:47 >> I love that, thank you.
06:48 >> Dude, I'm super.
06:49 >> No one got their packages.
06:50 >> No one got their packages.
06:51 >> All right.
06:52 >> Dude, I'm waiting for my shampoo.
06:54 >> Awesome, I'm much appreciated.
06:56 Nice to meet you, man, honestly.
06:57 >> Nice to meet you.
06:57 >> She's out of home, she's got to make the trip.
06:59 >> Thanks, man.
06:59 >> Bye.
07:00 >> Bye.
07:00 >> Bye.
07:01 >> What was it?
07:04 Don't get weak, never get weak.
07:06 I think it was never get weak.
07:09 Don't give in, keep going at them.
07:11 Never get weak.
07:12 Fuck yeah.
07:14 [SOUND]
