00:00 I speak to Thibault François, who is not an MEP, but he is an MP,
00:05 so a national MP in the French Parliament.
00:09 Thibault François, thanks for joining us.
00:12 And we've just heard a senior figure in your party saying that
00:17 the national rally will fight to make sure that Jordan Bardella
00:22 goes to Matignon.
00:23 That means that he will become prime minister.
00:26 That's your goal now, I'm assuming.
00:29 Thank you for having me tonight.
00:31 Yes, of course, it's one of our goals.
00:33 You have seen that.
00:34 We have said to the French people during our campaign,
00:36 "If you vote, you win."
00:38 And now they have the opportunity during this legislative election,
00:41 general election, that we were calling to explain to the French people
00:44 that if they go to vote, they're going to win.
00:47 We have seen that Macron is now in high difficulties regarding the scores.
00:51 He had, just for one reason, the French people disagree
00:54 with all the politics he put in place.
00:56 So now we have to go back to general election,
00:59 and we have to give the floor to the French people,
01:01 and let's see what will be the result.
01:03 Thibault, in your view, for your party,
01:07 was it the fact that for national rally, the Bardella effect,
01:11 having this 28-year-old, who would seem more distant from the Le Pens,
01:15 Marine Le Pen and her father, what do you see as the key reason
01:20 for people turning to Rassemblement National?
01:24 The key reason, and one of the reasons,
01:27 is because we are tackling the issue that the French people want to hear.
01:31 We made campaign close to the people.
01:33 We are in contact with them.
01:35 We won the first group of opposition around Marine Le Pen
01:38 in the National Assembly, and we did the first group,
01:40 and we most probably are going to send the first delegation
01:43 of members coming from one sole party in the European Parliament.
01:46 For one reason, we were talking about the power of acquisition.
01:49 We were talking about the difficulties we had
01:52 and the different policies put in place by the European Parliament
01:55 and the European institutions.
01:57 We talked about the Migration Pact, which has an impact
01:59 on the daily life of the French people.
02:01 So we are going to continue in this new campaign
02:03 to talk about the real issue, being very close to the French people,
02:06 and finally to have some politicians dealing and talking
02:09 about the issues that are facing our people.
02:12 And for the national rally, who kicked out the alternative for Germany
02:17 from their European party, comments by Maximilien Croix,
02:20 the leader for the AfD, talking about saying some of the SS,
02:25 the Nazi Hitler protection squad, were not necessarily criminals.
02:30 Going forward, you think there should be a cordon sanitaire
02:33 from the national rally, keeping out the AfD?
02:37 Yes, it's very clear the declaration of this head of delegation
02:42 from the alternative for Germany were totally unacceptable,
02:46 and our president of the party, Jordan Valdé,
02:49 took a very firm stand, saying that we will not sit at that moment
02:53 with the alternative for Germany, and this should be the case
02:55 in the next mandate in the European Parliament.
