ಕೊನೆಗೂ 10 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಬಳಿಕ ಲೋಕಸಭೆಗೆ ವಿರೋಧ ಪಕ್ಷ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದೆ. ಕಳೆದ 10 ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಖಾಲಿಯಿದ್ದ ವಿಪಕ್ಷ ಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್​ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಲೋಕಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕನಿಷ್ಠ ಶೇ.10ರಷ್ಟು ಸ್ಥಾನಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ವಿಪಕ್ಷ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಕಳೆದ 2 ಬಾರಿಯೂ ವಿಪಕ್ಷ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಪಡೆಯಲು ವಿಫಲವಾಗಿದ್ದ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್​ ಈ ಬಾರಿ ಪುಟಿದೆದ್ದಿದೆ. 99 ಸಂಸದರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್​ ವಿಪಕ್ಷದ ಕುರ್ಚಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂತಿದೆ.
