Senators Across Party Lines Slam FDA and DOJ Over Failure to Act on Youth Vaping Crisis

Senators from both parties expressed frustration at the FDA and DOJ for not taking stronger action against the youth vaping epidemic in the US. The FDA missed a 2021 court-ordered deadline to review e-cigarette products. Studies show that around 2.1 million kids have become regular e-cigarette users since the FDA missed its deadline, with the majority using flavored products. The FDA has only authorized 23 e-cigarette products so far, none of them flavored. Hundreds of thousands of applications are still pending review due to a lack of funding for the FDA's work.
