Gloomy Sunday is a 1999 German romantic drama film directed by Rolf Schübel. Plot

The film follows the story of András, a pianist who is hired to play at a restaurant owned by László, a charming and intellectual man. Both men fall in love with Ilona, a beautiful waitress who inspires András to compose his only song, “Gloomy Sunday”. The song becomes a hit, but its melancholic melody is soon feared for its alleged ability to trigger suicidal thoughts and actions.
