00:00I know you feel you must protect your mistress, but I beg you, walk away."
00:08Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most expertly arranged
00:12and executed fight scenes from film.
00:14说放脸就放脸
00:20Number 10.
00:21Hector vs. Achilles.
00:22Troy
00:23Let us pledge that the winner will allow the loser all the proper funeral rituals.
00:27There are no pacts between lions and men.
00:29Perhaps the dark horse of our list because it features quite a few cuts, this underrated
00:33duel sees Hector of Troy challenged by Achilles, the demigod, after the former mistakenly killed
00:37Achilles' cousin.
00:38I thought it was you I was fighting yesterday, and I wish it had been you.
00:44But I gave the dead boy the honor he deserved.
00:46Gave him the honor of your sword.
00:47The duo face each other outside the walls of Troy.
00:50While Achilles' near-superhuman skill is evident, Hector gives a good account of himself.
00:55The use of spears and shields is uncommon and makes for some creative and visually impressive
00:59movements from the combatants.
01:00Each move flows wonderfully into the next, and the choreography conveys the intentions
01:05of the combatants well.
01:06Get up, Prince of Troy.
01:07Get up.
01:08You won't let a stone take my glory.
01:13Eventually Hector is left limping, making it easy for Achilles to take his revenge.
01:17Number 9.
01:18Clifftop Duel.
01:19The Princess Bride
01:20In the annals of traditional fencing fights, few are as well-regarded as this one.
01:24Please understand, I hold you in the highest respect.
01:27Inigo Montoya faces the dread pirate Roberts atop the Cliffs of Insanity.
01:30Their witty banter, references to real fencing masters, and general respect for one another
01:35throughout are entertaining enough, but the choreography makes the fight shine.
01:38You are wonderful.
01:39Thank you.
01:40I've worked hard to become so.
01:42The duel ranges all over the cliffs, with creative use of the rocky terrain.
01:46Most impressive of all is the fact that they each can use a sword with their left and right
01:49hands.
01:50There's something I ought to tell you.
01:51Tell me.
01:52I'm not left-handed either.
01:56Still, we'd expect nothing less from two actors trained by legendary fight choreographers
02:02Bob Anderson and Peter Diamond.
02:04The duel feels larger than life and utterly timeless.
02:06Much like the victor, we hold this fight in the highest respect.
02:09Number 8.
02:10Alley Fight.
02:11SPL.
02:12Shop While Long.
02:16Anytime Donnie Yen is involved in a fight, it's bound to be great.
02:20Inspector Ma Guan is confronted by Jack, a knife-wielding assassin in an alley.
02:24Drawing a metal baton, Ma engages Jack in a fight.
02:27The two combatants move so fast it has to be seen to be believed.
02:30Eventually, Ma's longer reach allows him to get several blows to his opponent's head.
02:33While Jack manages to disarm Ma, the policeman uses his foe's own weapon to kill him.
02:44Although the rapid hand movements make the choreography so intricate that you may not
02:48appreciate how much goes into it the first time you see it, this is a fight well worth
02:52re-watching over and over.
02:53Number 7.
02:54Church Fight.
02:55Kingsman The Secret Service.
02:56Oh, you need to see this.
02:59Kingsman agent Harry Hart finds himself in a hostile situation when he and an entire
03:03church full of religious extremists have their violent impulses turned up to 11 by a special
03:08frequency.
03:09Compelled to kill everyone around him, Harry's training takes over, and he proceeds to slaughter
03:13with ruthless efficiency.
03:14He's leaving.
03:15I'm darting to death now.
03:16I hope a number of these freaks have out them cars.
03:23He does so using guns, knives, gadgets, and whatever he can lay his hands on.
03:27Stitched together to appear like several long takes, this sequence flows incredibly from
03:31one ultra-violent act to another.
03:33The variety of weapons, speed of Harry's movements, and the sheer number of people involved make
03:37the choreography of this fight sing like Freebird.
03:39How did this lighter get into my hand?
03:41Harry!
03:42Harry, what the heck is going on?
03:45Number 6.
03:46Elevator fight.
03:47Ip Man 3.
03:53Look, the Ip Man films have a plethora of exceptionally choreographed fights.
03:57While we were tempted to choose the titular character's bout with ten black belts or his
04:01match against Scott Adkins' Barton Getty's, we went with this fight due to its more creative
04:05use of the environment.
04:06Ip Man and his wife are ambushed in an elevator by a Muay Thai fighter.
04:09The enclosed elevator and Ip's need to protect his wife makes for some creative use of the
04:14space.
04:23After the fight spills out into the rest of the building, the duo fights down several
04:26flights of stairs.
04:27The quick exchanges are fantastic and are captured wonderfully in several overhead shots.
04:31It's a fast fight, but impressive nonetheless.
04:40Stop!
04:41Number 5.
04:42The Bride vs. the Crazy 88, Kill Bill Vol. 1.
04:45So, O-Ren, any more subordinates for me to kill?
04:50During her quest for vengeance, the Bride, or Beatrix Kiddo, if you prefer, pursues Yakuza
04:55head O-Ren Ishii.
04:56But to get to her, the Bride must first go through her army of bodyguards, the Crazy
05:0088.
05:01Beatrix's massive brawl against the Yakuza is bloody and over-the-top, as is expected
05:05from director Quentin Tarantino.
05:06You didn't think it was going to be that easy, did you?
05:10You know, for a second there, yeah, I kind of did.
05:16The fight ranges through two levels of a teahouse with swords and other weapons used extensively.
05:20While a lot of it is obviously heightened — I mean, how useful is breakdancing in
05:23a fight, really?
05:24— it's still phenomenally entertaining and a bloody good time.
05:27For us, at least.
05:28The Crazy 88 and the restaurant owners, not so much.
05:40Number four, rooftop fight.
05:51Who am I?
05:52Look, we could have done an entire list of just Jackie Chan fights, and we have.
05:55There's so many great ones.
05:56The foundry fight from Drunken Master 2, Jackie's match with Benny the Jet from Wheels
06:01on Meals, but we're going with one of his more underrated fights.
06:14Playing a possible fictional amnesiac version of himself, Jackie Chan faces a pair of hitmen
06:18on a roof.
06:19He faces each individually before fighting both of them at once.
06:22The exchanges between the fighters are rapid, creative, and often comedic.
06:25You got two treasures.
06:27He lost the disc, so I'm off.
06:30On number two, we take the disc and throw you off.
06:33I like the third choice.
06:35I keep the disc, and I throw you both off.
06:38Ron Smore and Berg's kicks are particularly impressive.
06:41The fight incorporates features of the rooftop and several nail-biting stunts.
06:44The whole thing lasts around eight minutes, and it's nonstop fun throughout.
06:47Take it easy.
06:48We got plenty of time.
06:51Number three, Kitchen Fight, The Raid 2.
06:53The Raid Indonesian action films have some spectacularly choreographed fights, and while
06:58the machete gang fight from the first film was a contender among many, these movies really
07:02saved the best for last.
07:11The climactic fight of the second film sees undercover cop Rama face off with an assassin
07:15in a kitchen.
07:16They begin hand-to-hand before moving on to using kitchen implements, and finally the
07:19assassin breaks out his knives.
07:28Like many fights from The Raid films, it showcases the Indonesian martial art of pencak silat.
07:33The whole fight masterfully escalates the tension and conveys everything through its
07:36choreography.
07:37From its beginning to its bloody finale, this fight is among cinema's best.
07:47Number two, Yushu Lian vs. Zhen Yu, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
08:05Wuxia films have some of the most beautifully choreographed fights of all, with their otherworldly
08:09wire-fu blending fantasy and reality.
08:11This fight sees Yushu Lian attempt to stop Zhen Yu from stealing the Green Destiny Sword.
08:15The duo duels in a training room surrounded by assorted weapons.
08:23Shu Lian's weapons all break against the Green Destiny, but this only adds variety
08:27to the choreography.
08:28Swords, spears, clubs, she tries them all, and each brings a different energy to the
08:32fight.
08:45The speed and grace of their attacks is something to behold.
08:48Their fight may end inconclusively, but while it lasts, it's like poetry in motion.
08:52Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
08:56Staircase Fight, Tom Yum Goon, aka The Protector.
08:59How they managed all this in one shot is mind-boggling.
09:10Knife Fight, John Wick Chapter 3 Parabellum.
09:13Managing multiple opponents, broken glass, and all those weapons can't be easy.
09:22Subway Fight, The Matrix.
09:23Some of these exchanges are iconic.
09:33Nameless vs. Long Sky, Hero.
09:35Jet Li vs. Donnie Yen does not disappoint.
09:45Alley Fight, They Live.
09:46It just keeps going and going.

10:12Number 1.
10:13Hallway Fight, Oldboy.
10:14One of the most famous fights among movie fight enthusiasts, this fight sees protagonist
10:18Oh Dae-su confronted by a gang of guards in the prison where he was once held.
10:27Dae-su holds them off with nothing but his fists and a hammer.
10:30After first rushing them, Dae-su gets stabbed and decides to fight defensively, gradually
10:35wearing them down.
10:42The grounded, realistic choreography as well as the fact that it's all filmed in a single
10:45take have helped the hallway fight achieve its legendary reputation, along with the top
10:49spot of our list.
10:51Is there an exceptionally well-done movie fight we forgot?

10:55No glasses required.
10:56Probably.
10:57Either put on these glasses or start eating that trash can.
