00:00It was full tilt jungle madness."
00:02Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the best movie fight scenes
00:07set in high schools, based on their intensity, iconic status, and all-round rough-and-tumble
00:12nature. We'll only be looking at scenes that were set in a high school, not just film fights
00:17between teenagers of high school age. Also, a spoiler alert is now in effect.
00:22Let that be a lesson to you. Actions have consequences.
00:27Number 20. George McFly vs. Biff Tannen. Back to the Future.
00:31When Marty's sent back in time to 1955, he has to make sure his parents, George and Lorraine,
00:36end up together at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance. There's a slight complication
00:40in that Biff has his eye on Lorraine, and she's into Marty.
00:44"'Bout Lorraine. She really likes you.
00:49She told me to tell you that she wants you to ask her to the Enchantment Under the Sea dance."
00:54"'Really?'
00:54"'Oh yeah. All you gotta do is go over there and ask her.'"
00:58Despite all this, Marty comes up with a plan for George to rescue Lorraine on the night of
01:02the dance. When George arrives to save Lorraine, he finds Biff there, and she's actually in danger.
01:08Biff tells him to leave, but George stands his ground.
01:12"'No, Biff. You leave her alone.'"
01:16"'All right, McFly. You were asking for it, and now you're gonna get it.'"
01:25Biff easily has George pinned, but after a distraction from Lorraine,
01:29George is able to lay him out with one punch.
01:32Number 19. Luke Davenport vs. Rob MacArthur. First Kid.
01:36Being the son of the president probably has its perks, but it can also bring
01:41unwanted attention. That's the issue facing Luke Davenport as he's picked on
01:45by classmate Rob MacArthur.
01:46"'You think you're better than everyone?'
01:51"'Not everyone. Did you hear what he just said to me?'
01:57After an exchange of insults during lunch, the two come face-to-face and are quickly
02:01surrounded by fellow students eager to see a fight. Luke throws a few punches,
02:05but they fail to connect. Rob hits Luke right in the mouth before the fight is broken up.
02:10Don't feel too bad for Luke, as throughout the film he trains to be a better fighter,
02:14and when the two square up at a school dance, Luke is able to deliver a KO to Rob.
02:20Number 18. Mike O'Donnell vs. Stan. 17 Again.
02:24After being transformed back into his 17-year-old self,
02:27Mike begins to learn more about his kids. He finds out that his son is being picked on by Stan,
02:32who also is the same guy who's dating his daughter Maggie.
02:36Understandably, this does not sit well with Mike as Stan is a jerk. In a class about sex ed,
02:55Stan makes a comment about how he's gonna get it on with Maggie over the weekend,
02:58and Mike just loses it. He tackles Stan, but unfortunately for him,
03:03Stan quickly gets the upper hand and just wails on Mike.
03:11The whole thing is filmed, and it goes viral. It was a valiant effort, but Mike did not stand
03:17a chance. Number 17. Alien teacher. The faculty.
03:21The teachers are being controlled by aliens at Harrington High School.
03:25Several students have noticed some peculiarities, but nothing definitive.
03:30Casey finds a weird creature in the grass and brings it to Mr. Furlong,
03:33who believes it to be some undiscovered parasite.
03:36Casey, I don't want to blow smoke up your butt here, but I think you found a new species.
03:40Yeah, right. Hey, it could happen. New species are discovered every day.
03:43After a closer encounter with the infected faculty,
03:46Casey and others return to Mr. Furlong's classroom to retrieve the creature. It's gone.
03:51But Furlong soon shows up, and it's not long before he tries to infect them.
03:55But the students fight back.
03:57Sorry to impose and disrupt Mr. Furlong, but if you kindly take your seats,
04:01this will be over quite quickly. Now sit down!
04:05Some of the CG doesn't hold up, but it's still freaky nonetheless to find out your teacher
04:09is an alien. Number 16. Schoolyard brawl. Stepbrothers.
04:14Brennan and Dale are returning home after a series of unsuccessful job interviews.
04:18On their way back home, they come across a group of kids Dale's had trouble with previously.
04:23Look, Mr. Grodocki, just leave me alone, will ya?
04:25Shut your mouth, S.A.!
04:27You guys just go back and have fun on your jungle gym, okay?
04:30The kids swarm them, and the two are beaten pretty badly. By the end of the film,
04:35Brennan and Dale have become successful, and decide to pay a visit to their schoolyard
04:39adversaries. This time around, they proceed to absolutely wallop the kids,
04:44even though they are vastly outnumbered.
04:46It's an outlandish, over-the-top sequence that you can't help laughing at the sheer
04:51ridiculousness of everything. Number 15. Ducky vs. Steph McKee. Pretty in pink.
04:57After he avoids her for several days, Andy is finally able to track down Blaine at school.
05:02She inquires about their prom plans, and he sheepishly says he had asked someone else
05:07to go but forgot about it.
05:08Just say it!
05:09I'm not lying.
05:09Tell me!
05:10What?
05:10Tell me!
05:11I'm not lying.
05:13Just say it!
05:14I'm not lying.
05:14Tell me!
05:15What?
05:16Tell me!
05:16What do you want to hear?
05:17Just tell me!
05:18What?
05:18She accuses him of lying, and the real reason is he's ashamed to be seen with her.
05:23She leaves heartbroken. When Blaine leaves, he runs into Steph, who further disparages Andy.
05:29Witness to all this was Ducky, who reached his breaking point after Steph insulted Andy.
05:34Ducky tackles Steph to the ground, and a fight ensues.
05:37It's broken up, and Ducky runs away, but we totally get where he's coming from.
05:4314. Pre-game tussle.
05:45Bring it on.
05:46The Rancho Carne Toro's football team does not have a stellar reputation.
05:50When they run onto the field for their home game against a rival school,
05:53there's barely a reaction from the crowd.
05:56Put your hands together for the Rancho Carne Toro!
06:07This is contrasted by the crowd's reaction when the Toro's cheerleading team is announced,
06:11where everyone goes wild.
06:12It makes sense, as the cheerleaders have won five cheerleading championships,
06:16while the football team can barely play.
06:19In fact, the opposing football team begins taunting the Toros, and a bench-clearing brawl ensues.
06:25Well, we're out here kicking your ass.
06:27Your cheerboys are over there, scamming on all your squirrel.
06:31Which is cool, since you don't have dicks anyway!
06:34Mm-hmm.
06:36Bitch!
06:37We don't see much of the action, but if the Toros fight like they play, we didn't miss much.
06:4313. Harry Potter vs. Draco Malfoy.
06:46Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
06:48There's been some strange occurrences at Hogwarts,
06:50such as Katie Bell being cursed and Ron Weasley being poisoned.
06:54Draco Malfoy has been acting rather peculiar,
06:56and Harry suspects he may be involved with what happened to Katie and Ron.
07:00I've been trying to remember, honestly, but I just can't.
07:13Harry confronts Malfoy in the bathroom, and without a word,
07:16Malfoy starts sending out hexes Harry's way.
07:19The two boys duel, but no one is really able to land a hit
07:23until Harry uses a spell from his potions book that sends Malfoy to the ground.
07:28He's badly injured as a result, and luckily, Snape arrives to heal Malfoy.
07:3512. The Locker Room Fight.
07:37Dangerous Minds.
07:38Luanne Johnson is struggling to connect with her students,
07:41as they're from low-income backgrounds and don't see school as something valuable.
07:45Two of her students, Emilio and Raoul, come across each other in the halls and have beef.
07:49Get to your classes.
07:51Okay, it's all over.
07:53Move!
07:54As tensions between them rise,
07:55Luanne steps in to break things up and makes them swear there's no further animosity.
08:00After they leave, Angela tells Luanne they're gonna fight anyway.
08:04Sure enough, in a locker room is a full-on brawl.
08:07It's a hectic scene as blows are exchanged until security arrives to intervene.
08:12Before being taken away, Luanne asks Raoul why he fought.
08:15He replies that if he didn't, he'd look weak and subject to attack himself.
08:20You promised!
08:21Yeah, but we had to.
08:22We couldn't walk around with our heads up no more.
08:25We got a reputation to protect.
08:26You know, Maureen, you understand.
08:28Like if America didn't stand up, everyone would attack it.
08:31Well, in our neighborhood, if you don't stand up,
08:33you can't walk down the street because everyone will attack.
08:35Number 11.
08:36Noah Sanborn vs. Jason Zimmer, The Boy Next Door
08:39Noah is new to town.
08:41He quickly becomes obsessed with next-door neighbor Claire,
08:44and befriends her son Kevin as part of his manipulation tactics.
08:47Could be worse.
08:49If you didn't have a brother, you'd be working full-time.
08:51Noah Sanborn.
08:52Allie, nice to meet you.
08:54Nice to meet you, too.
08:55Friends with Kevin here.
08:57Now I'm gonna go look around.
08:58At school, Kevin is taunted by Jason Zimmer,
09:01and when Kevin talks back, it looks like a fight is about to break out between the two.
09:06Out of nowhere, Noah enters and clocks Jason and throws him to the ground.
09:10Jason's friends promptly ditch,
09:12and when the vice principal tries to break it up, she's shoved aside.
09:16Stop it!
09:17Stop it!
09:20This isn't so much a fight as it is a one-sided beatdown
09:23showing just how violent Noah can be.
09:30When a cynical hitman returns to his hometown for a high school reunion,
09:33he tries to reconnect with people and places from his past.
09:37And who might you be?
09:38It is I, Sidney Feldman.
09:42Oh, been overseas?
09:45A life of murder for hire is pretty hard to shake though.
09:48At the reunion, Martin Blank explores the halls,
09:51and between the lockers is set upon by a rival hitman.
10:01The fight is fast and furious,
10:02the two contract killers both showing off their martial arts prowess.
10:06Hopefully, the school has never seen a rumble this serious before.
10:09Fortunately, Blank is prepared for class and can finish the impromptu assignment.
10:13Remember kids, always bring a pen.
10:21Jack Bronson vs Travis, The Warrior's Gate.
10:24I gave you the option.
10:28You gave me the option.
10:32Jack Bronson has it kind of rough.
10:34As if it isn't bad enough that he and his mom might lose their house,
10:37he's also got bullies to deal with between part-time jobs in school.
10:41Fortunately, after coming into possession of a magical artifact,
10:44he becomes a fighting expert in real life as well as video games.
10:48After surviving a magical quest in the United Kingdom,
10:51he returns home and is once more confronted by his bully Travis.
10:55This time, he's ready.
10:57In no time at all, he puts Travis to the ground.
11:00Short and sweet though the scene may be,
11:02there's nothing quite like seeing a jerk put in his place
11:05and the little guy coming out on top.
11:10I don't know.
11:11Number 8.
11:12Lee and Noah Flynn vs Tuppen, The Kissing Booth.
11:19Ninth grade skirt and 11th grade body.
11:22Perfect.
11:23When Elle Evans returns to school accidentally wearing a too short skirt,
11:27she gets more than a few looks.
11:29One kid, Tuppen, decides to take it upon himself to be that guy and grab her butt.
11:34Elle is horrified and Lee Flynn, her best friend, is justifiably outraged.
11:39How about I relax your face?
11:41Lee, it's fine. I got this.
11:44I did not think that through.
11:46Vying hard for douche of the year on day one of school,
11:50Tuppen just smirks, setting Lee off.
11:53Raring to fight but outsized,
11:55Lee is backed up by older brother Noah,
11:57who jumps into the fray and proceeds to loosen some of Tuppen's teeth.
12:01Swift comeuppance is always so satisfying.
12:04Me?
12:04Now!
12:10Everyone, homeroom!
12:12Now!
12:13Douchebag.
12:14Number 7.
12:15Kevin Jones vs. Chiron Harris, Moonlight.
12:28This is one high school fight scene on our list that's devastating rather than satisfying.
12:33Chiron has it hard enough trying to support his drug-addicted mother and avoiding bullies.
12:37The situation worsens when his main bully, Terrell,
12:40forces Chiron's friend Kevin to fight Chiron in order to prove himself.
12:44Kevin's betrayal carries an extra sting
12:46since the two became physically intimate the night before.
12:49It's heartbreaking to watch Chiron take punch after punch,
12:52refusing to fight back as Kevin urges him to stay down.
12:56Stay down!
12:57Chiron does get his revenge against Terrell,
13:00but at a high cost, getting sent to juvenile hall.
13:10Number 6.
13:12Will Stronghold vs. Royal Pain, Sky High.
13:24Will Stronghold's first fight against War and Peace is certainly memorable,
13:28helping to establish both characters.
13:30But it's Will's final showdown with the truly villainous Royal Pain that we had to go with here.
13:35After it's revealed that Gwen is the real Royal Pain,
13:38the two super-powered teens duke it out.
13:40Royal with her tech suit and Will with his super strength.
13:43Fun and exciting, flashing back and forth between the main conflict
13:46and the separate fights of his friends.
13:48The showdown unlocks a final surprise, both for Will and the audience.
13:52Royal Pain wasn't my mother.
13:55Royal Pain is me!
13:57Oh my god.
13:59Why can't this have been our story?
14:02Why can't this have been our school?
14:08Number 5.
14:10Ron Strickland vs. Andy Campbell, Fist Fight.
14:23The nice thing about growing up is being able to put all your childish feuds behind you.
14:27Getting older, wiser and more mature.
14:29Unless you're these guys.
14:31After running afoul of the ill-tempered and unhinged Ron Strickland,
14:34Andy Campbell is challenged to an old-school after-school fight.
14:38After Campbell's desperate attempts to avoid the fight all fail,
14:41and because there are zero responsible authorities in this universe apparently,
14:45they finally throw down in a big way.
14:47With the whole school egging them on.
14:50See?
14:51Let that be a lesson to you.
14:53Actions have consequences.
14:56There's something endlessly entertaining about seeing teachers brawling like there's no tomorrow.
15:01Pass the popcorn.
15:04Number 4.
15:05Patrick vs. Brad, The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
15:13In this emotional coming-of-age story,
15:15Charlie makes friends with Sam and her step-brother Patrick.
15:18At a party, he discovers that Patrick is in a secret relationship with Brad.
15:25A popular athlete with a sadly homophobic and abusive father.
15:29Caught by his dad but not ready to come out at school,
15:32Brad turns on Patrick in front of his friends.
15:42While Patrick lands the first blow,
15:44it's not long before Brad's jock buddies are ganging up.
15:47The escalation and emotional climax of Charlie's intervention
15:50make this a scene that sticks with you long after the final hit.
15:53Number 3.
15:54School Brawl, Mean Girls.
16:00Katie Heron just wanted friends.
16:01After moving from Africa to Illinois,
16:03she befriends a couple of misfits before infiltrating the Plastics,
16:07a clique of popular girls.
16:09I'll never tell Regina what you said.
16:12It'll be our little secret.
16:14After Katie takes Queen B, Regina George's place,
16:17Regina decides that if she's going to be Queen B,
16:19she's going to be Queen B.
16:21Regina decides that if she's going down,
16:23so is the whole hive.
16:25She releases all the details of their notorious burn book,
16:29a scrapbook of rumors, half-truths and ugly lies,
16:32resulting in a school-wide brawl.
16:38The scene is wild, hilarious and chaotic,
16:41as the junior girls revert to jungle madness
16:44the moment their secrets are exposed and friendships tested.
16:48Number 2.
16:49Jerry Mitchell vs. Buddy Revelle, 3 O'Clock High.
16:52We're gonna have a fight today after school,
16:563 o'clock in the parking lot.
16:58You try and run, I'm gonna track you down.
17:00After an unintentionally awkward encounter
17:02with a new and highly volatile student goes wrong,
17:05meek Jerry Mitchell is challenged to a fight after school.
17:08He does everything he can to get out of the fight,
17:10planting a switchblade, flirting with a teacher,
17:13even just running away.
17:14At last, in the parking lot,
17:16he faces off against the incensed Buddy.
17:18The lead-up here is intense,
17:20only growing as others try to stop the fight.
17:22When Buddy finally pulls out a set of brass knuckles,
17:25the tension is palpable.
17:26Having avoided conflict all day,
17:28Jerry finally realizes that sometimes,
17:31the only thing to do with a bully is to stand up to him.
17:48If you're on your phone,
17:49make sure you go into your settings
17:51and switch on notifications.
18:04Before he was a member of the Avengers,
18:06taking on intergalactic menaces,
18:07he was just a nerdy kid
18:09learning about power and responsibility.
18:11With the help of his newfound spidey senses,
18:13Peter is able to dodge and outmaneuver
18:15hothead Flash Thompson.
18:18I think you're pretty funny, don't you, freak?
18:24This iconic scene perfectly balances
18:26the idea of who Peter was
18:28with who he's about to become,
18:29as he surprises everyone, himself included,
18:32with superhuman speed, agility, and strength.
18:43They tried to recapture the magic in the 2012 reboot,
18:46but like Flash's punches,
18:47it just didn't land in the same way.
18:57What's your favorite fight scene?
18:58Let us know in the comments.
19:00Just turn around, McFly, and walk away.
