This skinny, scared dog was hiding at a fake "rescue" waiting for help. Our producer Erica tells us how she and her team @theanimalpad rescued this sweet girl and hundreds of other dogs who were SO happy this place was shut down!

00:00We immediately connected with her.
00:10We named her My Girl and promised her that she would get out of there.
00:14This girl's not doing so well.
00:21The police shut this place down and escorted rescuers inside the facility.
00:26This quote-unquote rescue was posing as a good place for dogs to gather donations but
00:33they were not feeding them enough, they were not giving them medical care.
00:37Now we, as a rescue, had 398 dogs to save.
00:43My name is Erika, I'm a director at The Animal Pad and I'm also an editor and producer at
00:48The Dodo, which means I get to share the stories that I'm a part of with the Dodo audience
00:53and this one means so much to me.
00:55I was three hours away at the rescue while other directors were sending me videos of
00:59taking care of all these dogs.
01:01I was really watching people save these dogs' lives in real time.
01:08Even from afar, I immediately connected with My Girl.
01:20She was so sick but she recovered relatively quickly when given proper medical care, proper
01:25nutrition and some TLC.
01:31As dogs gained strength and got better, they were able to leave this facility and go into
01:36foster homes.

01:39Somebody's going on their freedom ride!
01:41This is the highlight of the day so far, these guys leaving.
01:45And then there was My Girl.
01:48Because My Girl started so sick, she had a longer journey to be able to make it to a
01:52foster home in the States.
01:54But she was definitely fighting.
02:00Until one day she made it!
02:02She made it to our facility and we all got to meet the girl we fell in love with over
02:07video.
02:08Oh my gosh.
02:09We were all able to love on her and just welcome her with open arms.
02:16She was the most loving, most grateful dog.

02:21And one day I sent her off to an adoption event and the volunteer that took her there
02:26absolutely fell in love with her.
02:30My Girl met her resident dog, they fell in love and the volunteer agreed to foster her.
02:36But the real magic happened when she met the foster's parents and they absolutely fell
02:41in love with her almost immediately.
02:44It was a love at first sight moment.
02:47And now that is her forever home.
02:49She can run around on their huge property all the time.
02:54She gets zoomies all day long.
03:00And most importantly, she's taken care of and she's incredibly healthy.
03:04The former rescue has been completely cleared.
03:07So many dogs have made it to foster homes, so many dogs are experiencing love and care
03:12for the very first time.
03:14We were able to destroy that facility to make sure they never have dogs there again.
03:17But we do have some dogs that are still waiting for their forever foster families.
03:23They're in much better conditions, they're receiving love and food and care daily.
03:28And they will all get their forever home just like Miss My Girl has.
