00:00Hello Illawarra sports fans, Illawarra Mercury sports journalist here, Jordan Warren.
00:04I'm joined by Agron Lateefi, my colleague.
00:06Plenty happening this weekend in local sport.
00:09Hopefully the rain stays away and we get a full round of fixtures.
00:12Grotty, plenty of rugby league happening this weekend.
00:14Got Illawarra Rugby League and Group 7.
00:16Tell me where you're headed.
00:17To both.
00:18Illawarra Rugby League on a Saturday.
00:20Collies, after having a great win against the Butchers last week,
00:24are looking to back it up and they're playing De La Salle, the leaders.
00:28So that'll be a tough game.
00:29That's where I'll be.
00:31And then on Sunday it's a battle of Shell Harbour, Group 7.
00:33Yeah, big game.
00:34Great game.
00:35Sharks versus Stingrays.
00:37Sharks have won eight in a row, so they're the team to beat.
00:41But, you know, it's a derby.
00:43Stingrays will definitely be up for it.
00:44What about yourself?
00:45Yeah, well, I was just going to say on the Sharks.
00:47I was at that game last week, the 22-20 win against Willow.
00:50They weren't at their best, the Sharks, but gee, they're a good side
00:53and they were really gritty to get that win in that one.
00:55But yeah, I'll be at plenty of football action this weekend.
00:57The Illawarra Premier League, there's a few good games.
01:00Wollongong Olympic against Port Kemble has won,
01:02but I'll be at Tarawana against Helensburg.
01:04Both sides will be looking for three points in that one.
01:06They're just on the edge of that top five and really need a win
01:09to get themselves into those finals.
01:11Placing is really tight in the IPL at the moment.
01:13Of course, the Stingrays and the Wolves are both in action.
01:16The Stingrays are away to Heels United on Saturday night.
01:18Of course, David Carney's side have got a finals battle on their hands as well.
01:21And the Stingrays, well, they're top of the table.
01:23They play last place, Blacktown, on Sunday.
01:26So you'd think it'd be a win for them, but you can't rest on your laurels.
01:29You're fingers crossed, exactly right.
01:31But yeah, other than the football, of course, there's Illawarra rugby, mate.
01:35What's going on there?
01:36There is indeed.
01:37The Great Shelavans fight.
01:38I've had 30 wins in a row and they walk from Shamrocks
01:43to Shelavan Rugby Park on Saturday.
01:46So, you know, it's going to be a tough game for the Shamrocks.
01:50Shelavan, they're just winners or something.
01:53You know, no one's been able to beat them.
01:55So that's probably the pick of the games, I imagine.
01:57Yeah, like who's going to be the team that beat Shelavan?
01:59I don't know if they'll ever lose.
02:00But yeah, definitely head to the Illawarra Mercury website or app over the weekend.
02:03We'll be covering all the games.
