00:00Hi guys, my name's Jack Marshall, Digital Reporter with the Lancashire Post.
00:08Now as many of you viewers will know, we've recently been doing a Lancashire Post Eats
00:13series determined to find the best chicken shawarma kebab in Preston and I'm pleased
00:17to say that we've kind of concluded our search and we're here to crown the winner.
00:21Now just before I let you know who that winner was, I just want to thank everyone for watching
00:26so far, for reading the reviews, for watching the videos like I say, it's been really good
00:29fun to kind of really get out there and explore what Preston has to offer on the culinary
00:33scene and to really dig deep into those hidden gems which, you know, have come recommended
00:38from readers and to try out the classics, you know, we've been to Mix Up, we've been
00:41to a billion places down Friargate obviously and it's just been really good fun, obviously
00:46I mean it's hardly a chore to try kebabs day in day out, week in week out rather, so it's
00:52just been great.
00:53So yeah, without further ado, I'm really pleased to announce that the winner of our inaugural
00:57Healthy Eats series, looking for Preston's best chicken shawarma kebab was, drum roll
01:03please, Sandos.
01:04Now, I was so excited to go down to Sandos originally, it was one of those places where
01:09it carried on cropping up, people carried on naming it as one of the best places to
01:12go.
01:13I'd been down a couple of times, wandered by thinking right, I'm going to go grab one
01:16to try and it was closed, I was getting confused by the Google review timings, this, that and
01:21the other, I think Ede was into it and that was shaking things up, but anyway, I eventually
01:24got there.
01:25I mean obviously it's a winner so it's going to be good, but everything about it was just
01:28exactly what you want from a kebab.
01:31The naan bread was handmade, hand rolled, clay oven kind of vibes, the chicken was just
01:38like tender, juicy, packed a lot of flavour, it wasn't just there, it had a kick to it,
01:45the sauces involved were incredible, the salad was fresh, really really nice and kind of
01:50like cold and crisp compared to the warm softness of the chicken.
01:55Everything about it was just 10 out of 10, it was brilliant, I'd say 10 out of 10.
01:59Their actual score across the board when we were rating them on things such as quality
02:03of the naan bread, quality of the meat, extras such as sauces and salad and maybe some fries
02:09in some places included those, vibe of the restaurant in general and value for money,
02:13across the board they were 23 out of 25, I mean that's a pretty good score obviously,
02:20as good as it gets really.
02:21So yeah, I decided to go down to Sandoz and chat to the wonderful Camille, one of their
02:28kind of head chefs there, about what goes into making their now award winning kebabs,
02:32just to see what goes on behind the scenes there.
02:34So without further ado, I'll hand you over to myself in Sandoz with Camille.
02:38So I'm here with Camille today from Sandoz, you've won Best Kebab in Breston, congratulations.
02:44Thank you, it's an honour to be here.
