00:00Prison was not an obstacle for some former persons deprived of liberty or PDL to graduate from senior high school.
00:08Here's the first news from Katrina Son.
00:12Education. There is no fixed time and no fixed status in life.
00:18That was proven by 8 graduates in grade 12 of the former PDL.
00:23They received the Minimating Diploma under the Education Program of BJMP,
00:29the Alternative Education Senior High School and Technology and Vocational Courses of LaSalle Greenhills.
00:36They were imprisoned. It was not an obstacle for them to have a new life.
00:41Like Pauline Joy Revillosa, 35 years old.
00:45She struggled to study. She was released from prison in 2022.
00:52Inside, all the hardships were there. But I only approached Lloyd.
00:57Whatever I achieved in these diplomas, I'm proud of it.
01:02You can do it if you want to. You can finish it.
01:07All the hardships inside, we did not expect that even though we were imprisoned,
01:12we were able to graduate.
01:14This will help them to start again.
01:18Before, I could not finish because of my circumstances.
01:22Of course, it was a lesson for me.
01:26Marie Venus Ugay, 43 years old, was released on June 3.
01:32I said, not everything is over for me to change myself.
01:37Especially with the PDLs, most important is that they have to go back.
01:42They have to regain their dignity that they may have forgotten along the way.
01:48We believe that even though they are in the prison,
01:52we should continue to provide them with an education program.
01:56Aside from the PDLs, they also have other classmates who graduated as Maria Luz O. Metro,
02:03the oldest grade 12 graduate in their batch at the age of 69.
02:08Because of the hardships in life, she decided to let her children study first.
02:13I'm happy that I was able to graduate even though I'm at this age.
02:16You have to work hard. Even if you stop, you have to continue.
02:22This is the first news, Katrina Son for GMA Integrated News.
