00:16 Now, we will have a chance to interview DepEd Assistant Secretary Francis Bringas.

00:26 Asec, the National Learning Camp was suspended due to the super typhoon Egay.

00:31 How will the adjustments be made, Asec?

00:34 Well, you know that our suspension of classes is really an automatic default.

00:41 There is an alternative delivery mode.

00:43 So, all schools are ready to shift automatically into touch

00:48 if we have disruptions like this.

00:51 Asec, if the Learning Camp was not suspended due to the earthquake,

00:54 how many students would be admitted?

00:57 Well, if we were not suspended due to the earthquake,

00:59 because our pilot is grades 7 and 8,

01:01 we have a total of around 980,000 enrollees or participants here in our National Learning Camp.

01:12 Asec, are schools already taking care of this?

01:15 Well, yes, they should. Particularly in the secondary.

01:18 Because our grades 7 and 8 are in the secondary.

01:21 But that will not preclude, of course, the undergrade level

01:24 from offering this voluntary National Learning Camp.

01:27 How are the students selected, Asec?

01:30 Our students are selected based on their academic performance during the last school year.

01:38 So, if you are 85 and above in your grade in a subject area,

01:43 particularly English, Science, and Math,

01:45 you will be sent to the enhancement camp that we call.

01:49 If you are 75 and up to 84, you will be sent to the consolidation camp.

01:54 And if you did not meet the expectation that it's below 75,

01:58 you will be sent to the intervention camp.

02:00 Asec, is this for all grade levels?

02:03 And if so, what subject or skills will be taught?

02:07 Our pilot for this year is only grades 7 and 8.

02:12 But it can be offered to all of our grade levels.

02:15 And this will expand when our next end of school year comes.

02:20 You said that the Learning Camp is a camp-like atmosphere.

02:23 This is not a classroom set-up.

02:25 What is the set-up here?

02:26 And is there a grading system?

02:29 Our set-up is supposed to be fun activities.

02:32 We have intervention classes, of course.

02:35 But mostly, we will have delightful experiences and fun learning activities.

02:41 So, what was your second question?

02:45 How about the grading system, Asec?

02:49 We don't have a grading system,

02:52 except for our remedial classes, which are usual.

02:55 But here in the camp, we don't have a grading system.

02:57 It's just a descriptive description of their performance during the camp

03:03 so that the parents can get feedback on their performance during the Learning Camp.

03:07 So, hopefully, after the National Learning Camp,

03:09 you will see improvements in the students who will be participating in it.

03:14 Yes, that's our expected output.

03:16 But this is not just for our students.

03:19 We also have parts for our teachers

03:22 so that our teachers' capacity and competency can be enhanced.

03:26 Okay. Asec, until when will the Learning Camp continue?

03:30 Until the classes start?

03:33 That's the purpose of our Learning Camp.

03:35 Our Intervention Camp and Consolidation Camp will last for five weeks.

03:41 Okay.

03:42 While our Enhancement Camp will last for three weeks.

03:45 But at the start of the coming school year,

03:47 we have a sustainability component

03:50 where we will continue the interventions we are doing

03:53 or the activities we are doing to incorporate them in our next school year.

03:58 Okay. So, after the Egye Flood,

04:00 hopefully, the NLC will continue in the affected areas of the Egye Flood.

04:04 Yes.

04:05 Hopefully, our students will enjoy our Camp.
