00:00Hi, my name's Sam Quine, East Lancashire Reporter for the Lancashire Post and I'm
00:05here in Osseltwhistle as the search for Jay Slater enters his ninth day. I've
00:11been speaking to residents who have offered their messages of support.
00:14Addressing Jay's mother, one woman said, I'm really sorry to hear that Jay's
00:19missing, Debbie. I want to assure you that myself and our local church have been
00:24praying for you and Jay's safe return and we will continue to do so. Speaking to
00:30local people, many either knew Jay or knew someone closely connected to him,
00:35indicating how close-knit town is and how the news has shocked and affected
00:40everyone. A man who has known Jay for a number of years said, I just hope
00:45everything turns out positive and he's found safe. He's a friend of my
00:49grandson's and they played football together for about 11 years so it's sad
00:54news at the moment but I have my fingers crossed. Another woman said, I hope he's
01:00not injured and I hope he's safe. The whole community have been affected and
01:05it really is just terrible news. I couldn't even imagine it happening to my
01:10own children.
