00:00Hello, I appreciate it's not hot everywhere today, but where it is hot, it's the peak
00:06of the heat and it's the last hot day until the next hot spell.
00:11So, for Wednesday afternoon, for much of England and Wales, it's sunny skies, not completely
00:15waterable sunshine, some cloud is building and there's some mistiness around southwestern
00:19coasts as well as North Sea coasts where we've got the sunshine coming through though.
00:23As I say, it's the peak of the heat, temperatures reaching the mid to high 20s widely across
00:29England and Wales away from coasts and 30 to 31 Celsius possible.
00:33We saw 30 Celsius on Tuesday, so perhaps a degree above that.
00:37Meanwhile, the far north of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, significantly cooler.
00:42Temperatures back closer to average with extensive cloud here and some heavy showers for a time,
00:47especially later in the day for central and northern Scotland.
00:51Then overnight, you can see the first signs of the change taking place across northwestern
00:55parts with this swirl of cloud and rain and the wind circulating around it, an unseasonably
01:02deep area of low pressure.
01:04That's going to swing a weather front in and it's that weather front that marks the boundary
01:08between the heat and the, well, less hot weather that's coming our way over the next couple
01:15of days.
01:16So, for central, eastern and southern parts of England, it's another muggy night with
01:21temperatures not falling below 16 to 18 Celsius.
01:24It's going to feel fresher, meanwhile, for Scotland, Northern Ireland, perhaps West Wales
01:28and the southwest, although it's not going to be a chilly night by any stretch of the
01:32imagination.
01:33Most places would be in the teens.
01:35Then we've got that front sweeping through and you can see how it marks the boundary
01:39between the warmth and the cooler Atlantic air and look at those wind arrows.
01:45It's going to turn increasingly windy, especially for northwestern parts of the country.
01:49But we start Thursday with some sunshine and temperatures rising across East Anglia and
01:52the southeast.
01:54And then those temperatures stall as cloud arrives and the winds change direction, so
01:58certainly not as hot as previous days.
02:00Still, plenty of sunshine.
02:01In fact, once the front goes through, we see more sunshine behind it, especially for central
02:07and southern parts of the UK.
02:08North Wales, Northern England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, blustery showers developing, some
02:12heavy downpours in places.
02:13And first thing as well, northeast Scotland sees some heavy downpours ahead of the main
02:19front that's coming in.
02:20Now, for western Scotland and Northern Ireland, it's going to be particularly unseasonable
02:25with strong winds, gusts close to 50 miles an hour in places and some heavy rain around.
02:31So it's certainly not going to feel very June-like.
02:34And if you've got outdoor activities or there are events taking place for Northern Ireland
02:39and western Scotland, yeah, that weather could be problematic.
02:44It's also going to feel much cooler in much of the UK.
02:48But yeah, we've got wind and rain in the northwest, 15, 16 Celsius.
02:52East Anglia in the southeast, pleasant enough in the sunshine, but those temperatures not
02:56reaching the highs of previous days.
03:00Then into Thursday night, we'll see that low slowly traverse across northern parts of Scotland,
03:05again bringing spiralling bands of rain and showers to Scotland, Northern Ireland, Northern
03:10England.
03:11Drier further south with some clear spells overnight.
03:13That leads on to a mostly fine day in the south on Friday, again blustery in the north
03:18with further showers.
03:20And the weekend looks mixed, temperatures mostly back to average, some rain, but also
03:26some sunshine and some drier weather at times.
