00:00The Director-General of the National Intelligence Service, Nurdin Haji, was a junior officer
00:05in the National Intelligence Service before he was appointed as DPP.
00:13When he was appointed to the office of the Director-General, because of inferiority complex,
00:19he chased away all the people who were senior to him when he was in the service.
00:25They are for crippling the capacity of that service and making it dysfunctional.
00:30Three directors were chased away and reassigned to desk jobs in ministries across government.
00:40Thirteen assistant directors, men and women with proven track record of intelligence collection
00:48and analysis, were removed from the National Intelligence Service, leaving a shell under
00:55a clueless Director-General who has no capacity to run the organization.
01:01That is why the security sector was caught off guard by the intensity, the anger of the
01:09Kenyan people, the agitation of the Kenyan people, the lessening of the Kenyan people.
01:19Had Nurdin Haji done his job, we would not be where we are today.
01:25He has no capacity.
01:27He is out of the country most of the time on business trips.
01:32The country is on his own.
01:35My boss, President William Ruto, is exposed.
01:39That he has to back down and admit that he has hurt the people of Kenya.
01:43Yet this matter has been in public domain for the last two months.
01:48I want to say that Nurdin Haji must take responsibility for the deaths that occurred.
01:56He must take responsibility for the mayhem.
02:00He must take responsibility for failing President William Ruto.
02:04He must take responsibility for failing the Government of the Republic of Kenya.
02:08He must take responsibility for failing the Kenyan nation by not doing his job and advising
02:15correctly.
02:16And he must do the honourable thing, not just take responsibility but resign from that office
02:21and allow the President to pick a competent Director-General.
02:26I want to request President William Ruto to consider, as a matter of urgency, to recall
02:31the three Directors who were removed from the service and the 13 Assistant Directors
02:36to come and help reconstruct the service and get sanity back to the National Intelligence
02:41Service to serve the President, the Government and the people of Kenya.
02:48President William Ruto deserves better.
02:51He deserves a Director-General who knows what he is doing.
02:54He deserves a National Intelligence Service that is effective and that can analyse situations
03:00and keep him and the Government informed on what is going on.
03:05It is embarrassing to me as Deputy President that it has taken protests, deaths, mayhem,
03:12destruction for the President to know the truth, yet there is an organisation charged
03:17with that responsibility.
