High temperatures are forecast to start returning to Italy on Thursday after heavy rain whipped the north and centre of the country this week.

00:09That's six or seven degrees below seasonal norms.
00:15The most affected storm areas were Emilia-Romagna, Liguria, southern Piedmont, Tuscany, Umbria and Marche.
00:21There was a red alert for river levels around Moderna and Piacenza,
00:24while mountain refuges in Piedmont were cut off by heavy snow.
00:30The high temperatures are being forecast to return to Italy,
00:34following the bad weather that has plagued the country.
00:42Clean-up crews and business owners were inspecting the damage
00:45after sudden storms lashed south-western Switzerland overnight,
00:48sending torrents of water through roads and temporarily halting air traffic at Geneva airport.
00:54In the lakeside town of Morse, a creek overflowed,
00:57inundating the streets with tan-coloured floodwater.
