00:00Agriculture Department Secretary Francisco Chulaurel
00:05said that some smuggled products were stolen from him to be distributed to the country.
00:11Local producers were pleased with the addition of the DA
00:16to the other blacklisted companies involved in smuggling.
00:20Bernadette Reyes was shocked.
00:22The Department of Agriculture in Kalihim itself tried to blacklist the smuggled products.
00:33The Director of the Department of Agriculture, Secretary Francisco Chulaurel Jr., did not specify who was blacklisted.
00:39But it happened when a product was transferred to a condemnation facility
00:42to be destroyed.
00:46The blacklist was rejected because it was planned to be sold again.
00:51Initially, I calculated 250,000 per container, 20.
00:58Then it went up to 1 million per container.
01:01I just calculated it.
01:03The Department of Agriculture saw the mode of an importer of rice
01:08where only 20% of the total imported rice is declared to be imported to the country.
01:15The importer is doing this over and over again, so they canceled its import permit.
01:20In the past, when a ship arrived and only 20% of the rice was declared,
01:25we assumed that only 20% of the rice was unloaded.
01:29Then they would export the rest to other destinations.
01:32According to the Secretary of Agriculture, Francisco Chulaurel Jr.,
01:36there will be more blacklists under the campaign against smugglers
01:42that is happening in the country's economy.
01:44You will see in the next few months,
01:47I will blacklist a lot of smugglers, even my friends.
01:53I know what we're doing, we're just getting proof.
01:56The smugglers are destroying the industry
01:59by undercutting everybody because of illegal acts.
02:02In total, four companies, two of which are related to fish, one to sugar and one to rice,
02:07will be blacklisted by Secretary of Agriculture Chulaurel in the coming months.
02:13If a smuggler sells a product without paying the right amount,
02:17it can be sold at a lower price.
02:21According to local producers,
02:23blacklisting smugglers is a big help to the industry
02:26so that the products in the market are priced fairly.
02:30This is unfair practices.
02:33This is what is distorting the price in the market.
02:37Our legal or legitimate businessmen are really struggling
02:42and working and doing business properly
02:46and there are smugglers like this.
02:48If we don't have smugglers, the price is fair.
02:52It's fair to the mill gate, it's fair to our planter,
02:55but it's still fair to the consumer.
02:57It should not be abused.
03:00For the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources,
03:03smugglers are already facing a deeper problem.
03:07If smugglers do not meet the necessary regulatory requirements,
03:12aside from being affected by the price,
03:17the safety of the public is also at risk.
03:23For GMA Integrated News, Bernadette Reyes,
03:27for Tutok 24 Horas.
03:33.
