Welsh rugby has been in a bad spot for the last few years, both on and off the pitch, but the WRU’s new chief executive has announced a new five year plan to help solve the problems for the national team. It’ll be a tough road fixing all of its problems, but those in the union are confident.

00:00The Welsh Rugby Union has rarely seen more troubling days as over the last few years.
00:06Internal scandals, accusations of misogyny and bullying, and performances on the pitch
00:10have not been much better.
00:12Wales had the wooden spoon in the last six nations, playing five, losing five.
00:16The first time we'd done that in over 20 years.
00:19The Welsh Rugby Union, though, want to fix these problems, and they think that they can
00:23do that with a new five-year plan.
00:25So by 2029, they want the Welsh rugby to be back where it was, on top of the world stage.
00:32The five-year plan comes with a number of targets, but as of yet, there are no clear
00:36plans of how to reach those targets, which include the national men's and women's team
00:41being at the top of the rankings, improving club teams in the United Rugby Championship,
00:46and generally increasing the positivity surrounding the game across Wales.
00:50They all sound like relatively vague and obvious outcomes, but if those targets are met over
00:55the next few years, then the Welsh Rugby Union would be in a much better spot.
