00:00He committed at the Rivals five-star event.
00:03He did it on a live stream.
00:05Four-star offensive lineman Max Buchanan
00:08has verbally committed to the Miami Hurricanes.
00:11Star offensive lineman out of Sanford Seminole High School.
00:14Very good program in Central Florida.
00:16He chooses Miami over Florida State,
00:20Penn State, Clemson, Ole Miss, and UCF.
00:23Those were the hats that he had on the table.
00:25Six foot four, 280 pounds.
00:28He's a top 100 prospect in America,
00:31according to On 3 Sports.
00:33So this is a very good player.
00:34In fact, Max Buchanan actually becomes the highest rated
00:39for what the ratings are worth.
00:40I take scouting over ratings.
00:43But he's the highest rated offensive lineman
00:46that Miami has landed in either the 2025 cycle so far,
00:51and even going back to the class of 2024 cycle.
00:53Miami hasn't landed offensive lineman
00:55rated higher than Buchanan since they
00:58got those two five stars, Okunlola and Maui Noah,
01:01back in 2023.
01:02So this is a legit player.
01:05Max Buchanan is very highly rated.
01:07When he made his live announcement last night
01:09on Rivals, he said, quote, I'm going to go be a Kane.
01:13And he put on that Miami hat with the sort of enthusiasm
01:16that you always love to see.
01:17And Buchanan, by the way, has put out some good content
01:20on his social media channels with his family members
01:23and close friends.
01:24He's put out videos of them wishing him well and talking
01:27about his announcement.
01:30Again, this is the type of young man
01:32we always want Miami to be recruiting.
01:34You guys see when we do those Canes Connection Fridays
01:37and we talk to Miami players, sometimes we talk to recruits.
01:40Oh, by the way, Luke Nickel is going
01:42to join us on a second episode later today.
01:44So when we talk to Miami players and Miami recruits,
01:47you see just how mature these guys are
01:51and what kind of alphas these players are.
01:53These are the sorts of personalities
01:55to go along with the football talent
01:57that Miami has been recruiting.
01:59And I think Max Buchanan is going
02:00to fit in very, very well in Coral Gables.
02:03And he was originally planning to announce his decision
02:06in August, but he decided this week
02:08to move his announcement forward to last night.
02:11Miami had him convinced.
02:13He knew he was going to be a Hurricane.
02:14Now, as far as the role that Buchanan
02:17is going to play at Miami, another common trait
02:21among players Miami recruits at any position,
02:24including offensive line, of course, is versatility.
02:28Versatility is a strength for Buchanan.
02:31He plays left tackle at his high school Sanford Seminole,
02:35but he could very well move inside to guard at Miami.
02:38In fact, I think on every recruiting service
02:41that has scouted Buchanan, they all consider him
02:43to be an interior offensive lineman at the next level,
02:46even though in high school he has played left tackle
02:49and he's locked that position down at Seminole
02:53pretty solidly, I would say.
02:55But he is going to cross train as every Miami
02:58offensive lineman does, but most of the signs
03:01seem to be indicating Buchanan is probably
03:03going to be a guard once he gets to Miami.
